With the purchase of Sanit, a German producer specializing in sanitaryware installation solutions, the Roca Group, a global leader in the design, manufacturing, and marketing of goods for the bathroom area, enhances its position as a worldwide operator.

Roca Group, which operates in 170 countries and has 85 factories, will strengthen its position in a category in which Sanit is the third-largest operator in Germany and the fifth largest in Europe, pending permission by competition regulators. In this deal, Alantra served as Roca Group’s advisor, while Allen & Overy served as the legal advisor.

The pre-wall installation systems category, which comprises hidden tanks, push-buttons. Currently, the worldwide market in this category, headed by Germany, is seeing considerable growth in all nations, reflecting today’s customer tastes, which increasingly choose solutions that prioritize space, hygiene, and comfort.

Sanit, located in Eisenberg since 1945, is a subsidiary of Aliaxis, a world pioneer in innovative plumbing systems with operations in more than 40 countries. In Germany, the corporation has three industrial sites: Eisenberg, Rodential, and Wittenberg.

These facilities, which employ 378 people, ship to more than 70 countries and manufacture accessories and complements for the assembly and installation of bathroom space items, in addition to the aforementioned categories. In 2020, the company’s revenue was 74 million euros.

Sanit will become the development hub for Roca Group’s installation systems, as part of the group’s aim to establish specialized competence centers for distinct product categories in the bathroom. It comes after the purchase of Royo, a Spanish bathroom furniture maker, and a Brazilian sanitaryware facility.

Roca UK managing director Alan Dodds told Kitchens & Bathrooms News exclusively earlier this year that the firm would become more active as it prepares to compete with specialized manufacturers: “I believe you’ll see more from Roca in terms of diversification and a recognition that we want to be viewed as a full-service bathroom provider.”

“The purchase of Sanit is a vital step in our goal of integrating items into full bathroom solutions and bringing high value-added technology into our product range, therefore increasing our worldwide leadership,” said Albert Magrans, CEO of the Roca Group.
