Mumbai, India | July 1st, 2026: At Powering The Next Era, a leadership and stakeholder engagement event hosted recently in Mumbai, alfanar and Senvion have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening India’s domestic wind energy ecosystem.
The event brought together customers, partners, senior leadership from alfanar and Senvion, and key stakeholders from both companies. The discussions highlighted the company’s continued focus on developing wind turbine solutions that are designed, engineered, and manufactured in India. These solutions are also supported throughout their operational lifecycle. The approach aligns with the broader vision of building solutions “in India, for India and global markets.”
With this renewed focus, Senvion has also marked a new phase for the wind turbine OEM under the leadership of Shreyas B. Suvarna, CEO, Senvion India.
Shreyas B. Suvarna, newly appointed CEO of Senvion India, stated, “India has built a strong manufacturing base. The next step is to move up the value chain by strengthening design and innovation capabilities. At Senvion, this transition is already underway, supported by our R&D teams in India and Germany. Our focus is to design and build in India, for both domestic and global markets, while ensuring long-term reliability and lifecycle support. This is key to positioning India as a global hub for wind energy innovation.”
To provide multi-market depth and macro-economic relevance to the reaffirmation, Jamal Wadi, Chairman of Senvion and President of alfanar, added, “India is an important market in the global renewable energy transition. Senvion’s growth reflects our long-term commitment to building strong local capabilities. As part of alfanar’s renewable energy and manufacturing ecosystem, the company is well-positioned to support India’s wind energy value chain through technology, scale, and execution strength. We will continue to invest in localisation and capability building to support India’s clean energy ambitions.”
Senvion became part of alfanar’s global renewable energy ecosystem in 2021, following its full acquisition. The acquisition was carried out through Global Renewable Energy Development Holding Company Limited (GREDHCL), an entity established by alfanar’s promoters. This integration has enabled Senvion to leverage alfanar’s capabilities across renewable energy solutions, EPC, electrical systems, grid infrastructure, battery energy storage systems (BESS), sustainable fuels, and industrial manufacturing, while deepening its local presence in India.
The company’s turbines are manufactured in India and supported by in-house R&D teams based in India and Germany, currently operating a manufacturing capacity of approximately 1.5 GW per annum, with facilities across Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Gujarat. To date, Senvion has installed around 1.7 GW of wind energy capacity, of which nearly 1.6 GW is operational. The current product portfolio includes 2.7 MW and 4.2 MW turbine platforms, specifically developed to meet Indian project requirements and customisable for global requirements. Its latest 4XM platform reflects a strong emphasis on localisation, industrialisation, and design-led innovation, with significant engineering led from India.
With alfanar’s continued backing and advanced turbine platforms, the company is well-positioned to contribute meaningfully to India’s renewable energy ambitions. It will also continue to strengthen domestic capabilities across technology, manufacturing, project execution and long-term service.
