Amazon Prime Video’s informative Masterclass at the 52nd IFFI

Amazon Prime Video has successfully concluded its first stint at the esteemed 52nd International Film Festival of India, held in Goa.

This was the first time that the festival had invited video streaming services marking the important contribution of the sector to India’s creative and entertainment space.

The highlights of Amazon Prime Video’s participation at IFFI were the exclusive world premiere of the Amazon Original horror movie, Chhorii, two masterclass sessions by the cast and creators of the Amazon Original series ‘The Family Man’, as well as Amazon Original Movie ‘Sardar Udham’. The assemble also featured a special showcase of Satyajit Ray’s critically acclaimed films.

The Guest of Honour for the closing ceremony was Madhuri Dixit Nene, who noted the importance of video streaming services and the critical role they have played in transforming content creation.

Manoj Bajpayee was commended for his role in ‘The Family Man’ by Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Shri Prasoon Joshi, famous lyricist and Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification, and Dr. Pramod Sawant, Chief Minister of Goa.

The festival played a pivotal role in recognizing the contributions of video streaming services and in also initiating new dialogues between filmmakers, talent, creative partners, and the entertainment community.

  • Masterclass on creating cult icons

The Masterclass on ‘Creating Cult Icons: India’s own James Bond (007)’, was presented by Aparna Purohit, the Head of India Originals, Amazon Prime Video, and the cast and creators of the Amazon Original Series, ‘The Family Man’.

The session pointed out the importance of the power of authentic storytelling illustrated using realistic incidents, humor, and well-developed characters.

  • Masterclass on Sardar Udham

The Masterclass on one of the year’s most celebrated movies focused on the formula that turned the story of a lesser-known freedom fighter into a cinematic success. Moderated by Smriti Kiran, the Masterclass, brought together National Award winner, Shoojit Sircar, and Producer Ronnie Lahiri.

  • World Premiere of Amazon Original horror movie Chhorii

Chhorii is the remake of the celebrated Marathi horror film, Lapachhapi, the haunting story of a young couple based in the heartland of India. The film takes the viewers along for a ride that is filled with horror, chills, and thrills, all in equal proportions.

  • A Showcase of Satyajit Ray’s Most Iconic Films

Amazon Prime Video curated a special showcase of the legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray’s most iconic films to celebrate his birth centenary. This special tribute included films such as Ashani Sanket, Aparajito, Pather Panchali, Sonar Kella, Seemabaddha, Jalsaghar, and Shatranj Ke Khilari.
