An 18-seater TATA Winger donated to an NGO to enable the safe transport of special children

Octave India, through DEEP Trust, donated the much-needed vehicle to Sri Vidhyas Centre for Special Children, that is 150 special children

Hyderabad, May 7, 2026: DEEP (Disease Eradication Through Education and Prevention) Trust, a non-profit organisation dedicated to preventive healthcare, health education, community screenings, livelihood support, and environmental sustainability, has launched its flagship initiative, “Happy Wheels,” aimed at improving mobility and accessibility for children with special needs.

As part of the initiative, an 18-seater TATA Winger sponsored by Octave was donated to Sri Vidhyas Centre for Special Children during a special event held at the NGO’s premises in Mahendra Hills, Hyderabad.

Sri Vidhyas, a 27-year-old institution based in the city, provides holistic education and developmental support to children with intellectual and related disabilities. The centre currently supports around 150 children and offers its services free of cost.

The vehicle was formally handed over by Mr. Ballav Mundra, CFO, Octave India, and Dr. Madhu Vasepalli, Founder & Trustee of DEEP Trust, to Mrs. Shanthi Venkat, Founder of Sri Vidhyas, in the presence of Ms. Swati Mohanty, CEO of DEEP Trust, along with parents and students.

Under its CSR initiative, Octave India partnered with DEEP Trust to facilitate the donation of the school transport vehicle. Octave’s Hyderabad centre is its largest R&D facility outside North America, with additional offices in Gurugram, Gandhinagar, Pune, and Mumbai.

For several years, Sri Vidhyas Centre has been committed to empowering children with special needs, but transportation challenges have often affected regular school attendance and access to therapy and extracurricular activities. The “Happy Wheels” initiative seeks to bridge this critical gap by ensuring safe and dependable transport facilities.

The newly introduced vehicle will help children commute safely between home and school, improving attendance, continuity in education and therapy, and participation in social and extracurricular activities. The initiative is also expected to ease the daily burden on families and caregivers.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ballav Mundra, CFO, Octave India, said, “We are honoured to support this impactful initiative. At Octave India, we believe access is fundamental to inclusion. ‘Happy Wheels’ is a simple yet powerful intervention that will make a lasting difference in the lives of children and their families.”

Dr. Madhu Vasepalli, Founder & Trustee of DEEP Trust, added, “When we remove everyday barriers like transportation, we open doors to confidence, growth, and independence for these children.”

Ms. Swati Mohanty, CEO of DEEP Trust, said, “‘Happy Wheels’ represents hope in motion. It is about building an inclusive ecosystem where every child feels seen, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.”

While celebrating the launch, DEEP Trust also highlighted the broader need for accessible transportation and infrastructure for children with special needs across the country. The organisation has invited corporates, philanthropists, and individuals to support such initiatives by contributing towards school transport, accessibility improvements, and educational and therapeutic support for special children.
