(29th August 2026, Greater Noida) On this Independence Day, Annapurna Girls Hostel celebrated the spirit of freedom through a unique initiative that revolved around ensuring the safety of women. As part of its Independence Day celebrations, the hostel distributed women’s safety kits to 200 students that included various women safety essentials that were meant to help young women be more confident and safe during their daily lives.
The celebration of Independence Day at Annapurna Girls Hostel was characterized by patriotism, participation and togetherness. In line with the celebrations, there was hoisting of flags and patriotic songs sung followed by cultural programmes, student participation and other forms of celebration. The hostel was decorated in colours of the national flag in order to encourage participation of the students in the Independence Day celebrations. However, the most prominent feature of the celebration was the distribution of women’s safety kits to 200 students. The kit had women-safety essentials that were chosen based on the everyday safety needs of the young women.
While addressing the gathering, Kunwar Gaurav Giri, Founder of Annapurna Girls Hostel stated that “Independence has significance only if each young girl feels confident, conscious and secure in their surroundings. For this Independence Day, it was necessary for us to celebrate along with our students and also do something which is useful to them after the day ends.” The importance of creating a safe and healthy environment for the students of the hostel continues to hold its place at Annapurna Girls Hostel. It was also felt that celebrations should bring about happiness but they should also convey a message of care, awareness and responsibility.”
Students were seen indulging in group activities and refreshments while celebrating the special occasion at the end of the celebration ceremony. With the help of a mixture of patriotic celebrations along with women’s safety kit distribution, Annapurna Girls Hostel celebrated an eventful independence day.
