Bengaluru Laces Up for Pokémon GO: Trainers and Runners Meet for a Morning of Movement and Play

Bengaluru, 28 May 2026 – Pokémon GO successfully hosted a first-of-its-kind community run in Bengaluru on  Saturday, 23 May 2026, in partnership with Stride Run Club, one of Bengaluru’s most vibrant running communities. The event drew Trainers and fitness enthusiasts turning out to be part of a morning that blended the thrill of real-world gameplay with the joy of running together. The 3-kilometre route wound through Cubbon Park, with participants enjoying every step of the experience.

The highlight of the run was an egg-hatching challenge that kept participants engaged. Every step counted as runners racked up distance to hatch their Eggs in Pokémon GO, with the progress tracker driving a spirited competitive energy across the route. Adding to the excitement, select participants walked away with exciting prizes, making the finish line more rewarding.

Participants used Pokémon GO’s AR photography feature, GO Snapshot to snap photos with their favourite Pokémon set against Bengaluru’s iconic landmarks as a reminder that the city itself is the playground. The enthusiasm with which runners and Trainers alike embraced this experience spoke volumes about how naturally movement and play can come together.

At its core, this event is an expression of Pokémon GO’s wider community strategy of creating real world moments that bring people together through movement, exploration and play. By partnering with Stride Run Club, Pokémon GO chose to amplify that vision through the energy of an established running community, co-creating a social discovery experience that felt joyful and organic for everyone involved. The collaboration is a model for how Pokémon GO intends to grow its on-ground presence: purposeful, community-powered, and rooted in the places people already love.

Hui Elaine, Senior Director, APAC Regional Marketing, Pokémon GO, said, “Seeing hundreds of Trainers and runners come together is exactly the kind of community moment Pokémon GO  wishes to create. This event proved that when you give people a shared experience the energy is infectious. We are incredibly proud of what we built here, and it gives us great confidence in what’s ahead for Pokémon GO in India.”

Sidharth Yadav, Founder, Stride Run Club, said, “At Stride Run Club, we believe that running is best enjoyed in good company. Partnering with Pokémon GO took that experience to a whole new level, adding an interactive layer to the experience and turning the movement to play. It was incredible to see our community and the Trainers explore Bengaluru in an entirely new way.”

The Bengaluru run is the latest in Pokémon GO’s growing series of on-ground community moments across India, reflecting a broader commitment to building connections that go well beyond the screen. As the game continues to deepen its presence in the country, bringing health, play and exploration to more cities and more communities remains at the heart of what Pokémon GO stands for.
