Kolkata, April 27, 2026 — The School of Business and Management, Bhawanipur Global Campus, recently organised an interactive workshop titled “Career Opportunities in the Securities Markets and the Role of NISM” in association with the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM). The session was conducted by Subhayu Das, Assistant General Manager, Partnership & Marketing at NISM—a public trust established in 2006 by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to carry out capacity-building activities aimed at raising quality standards across India’s securities markets.
The workshop gave students a closer look at career pathways in the securities market while also building their awareness of online financial tools and skills. The session saw active participation from students across the School of Business and Management.
Subhayu Das brings considerable experience in financial education, partnership development, and programme management to his work at NISM. His background includes certifications in Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and executive programmes from IIT Delhi and IIM Rohtak. His visit to BGC is part of NISM’s wider effort to bring financial market education directly to student communities across the country.
The workshop sits naturally within BGC’s existing academic partnership with NISM. The School of Business and Management currently offers an MBA in Financial Markets in collaboration with NISM – a programme that gives students hands-on trading experience, immersive sessions at the Reserve Bank of India, and direct training from NISM faculty. The workshop extended that collaboration into the classroom in a more accessible format.

Industry immersion has been central to how the School of Business and Management operates, through live case studies, professional certifications, and institutional tie-ups across finance, regulation, and governance. NISM, whose mandate includes training for securities market participants ranging from compliance professionals to regulators, is a natural fit within that framework.
The MBA in Financial Markets at BGC’s School of Business and Management is built from the ground up around industry relevance. Its faculty combines industry experts from BSE, who teach 50% of the course, with BGC’s own academicians, ensuring students receive both market-facing insight and academic rigour in equal measure. The curriculum follows a 70:30 practical-to-theory ratio, with mandatory internships embedded within the programme itself, so students gain real professional exposure before they graduate. Coursework is supported by specially designed study materials across all six semesters, supplemented by case study-based training sessions led by industry experts for applied understanding of core subjects. The programme extends learning well beyond the classroom through dedicated industry visits; immersion programmes at prestigious financial institutions, including the Reserve Bank of India; and the rare privilege of visiting NISM’s trading floor on Dalal Street. Placement support is provided through NISM’s network with reputed financial organisations, giving graduates a meaningful head start.
Every element of the programme, from curriculum design to experiential sessions, reflects the same principle: that courses shaped by market demand, taught by those who work within it, and delivered through direct institutional access, produce graduates who are genuinely ready for the securities industry.
