Cathay announces key leadership appointments for South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa region

Strengthening regional leadership across Marketing, Corporate Sales and Trade Sales to drive continued growth and customer engagement across the SAMEA region

Cathay Pacific has announced the appointment of three pivotal leaders to head key departments across its South Asia, Middle East, and Africa (SAMEA) region — reinforcing its commitment to deepening customer connections, enhancing commercial performance, and driving integrated brand growth.

Ms. Piyuli Bhattacharjee has been appointed as Regional Head of Marketing for SAMEA. In her new role, she will lead regional brand marketing across passenger travel, cargo, and lifestyle business. With over eight years of experience spanning aviation, omni-channel retail, and brand strategy, Piyuli brings a deep understanding of digital strategy, customer insights and integrated campaign planning.

Previously serving as Regional Marketing Manager at Cathay, she led 360° marketing strategies, loyalty engagement, and digital-first campaigns. Prior to joining Cathay, she held a key digital marketing role at Croma – Infiniti Retail (Tata Group) and gained valuable experience at Tata Consultancy Services in market research, and Ogilvy & Mather in account management. Based in Mumbai, Piyuli will continue to drive Cathay’s brand presence and customer engagement initiatives across the region.

Mr. Arjun Bhatia has been appointed as Regional Head of Corporate Sales for SAMEA. In his new role, Arjun will be responsible for driving strategic corporate sales initiatives, key account management, and revenue performance across markets. He previously served as Regional Head of Digital Sales for the region, where he strengthened Cathay’s digital commerce and customer experience capabilities.

With over nine years of cross-functional experience across hospitality, food & beverage, and digital business, Arjun has held leadership roles at Zomato and The Indian Hotels Company Limited (Taj Hotels). An alumnus of IIM Ahmedabad and IHM Mumbai, Arjun combines strong commercial acumen with a customer-first approach to strengthen Cathay’s corporate travel portfolio.

Mr. Vinod Viswanathan has been appointed as Regional Head of Trade Sales for India and Sri Lanka. Vinod brings over fifteen years of experience in aviation, global distribution, corporate and leisure travel, having previously served as Cathay’s Regional Head of Corporate Sales for the region.

In his new role, he will focus on strengthening trade partnerships, driving strategic initiatives, and expanding Cathay’s footprint across key markets. His prior experience includes senior leadership roles with Air Mauritius, Flight Centre Travel Group, British Airways, Oman Air, and Travelport.

These appointments further reinforce Cathay’s strategic focus on strengthening leadership depth and customer engagement across key commercial functions in the SAMEA region.

All three of them are based at Cathay’s regional headquarters in Mumbai.
