Chennai’s BGMI Talent Akshay “Justy” Kumar Selected for KRAFTON India’s Rising Star Program

iQOOxTEAM TAMILAS player aims to make Chennai proud on India’s biggest esports stage

Chennai’s emerging esports player Akshay “Justy” Kumar has been selected for KRAFTON India’s Rising Star Program, an initiative designed to recognise and support the country’s most promising gaming talent.

Currently representing iQOOxTEAM TAMILAS, Justy has steadily gained recognition in the Indian BGMI esports scene through his unique gameplay style, discipline, and strong team coordination. His selection into the Rising Star Program marks another important milestone in his journey from casually gaming with friends in Chennai to competing at the highest levels of Indian esports.

Justy began playing BGMI from the game’s launch in India after being introduced to it by a friend. What initially started as casual gaming sessions soon turned into a serious passion as he developed a deeper interest in competitive esports.

“My friend introduced the game to me, and I started enjoying playing with my friends. Slowly, I realised I wanted to pursue it competitively,” Justy shared.

Known for being an “all 400 gyro” player, a unique control style that sets him apart from many competitors. Justy spends nearly four to six hours daily practicing and improving his gameplay, taking short breaks every hour to maintain focus and consistency.

While family support in esports can often be challenging for young players, Justy says his family has respected his passion and allowed him to chase his dreams independently.

“My family may not have fully supported esports initially, but they never stood in the way of my dreams and passion,” he said.

Recently joining iQOOxTEAM TAMILAS alongside teammates Mrigl, Reaper, Aimgod, and Manty, Justy is now preparing for BMPS, which will be his first major tournament with the roster.

“I blend very well with the team, and I’m hoping for the best in our upcoming events,” he added.

Speaking about his selection for the KRAFTON Rising Star Program, Justy said, “I’m very glad to be selected and I feel really happy about it. I believe this program will help me with streaming, content creation, and reaching a bigger audience.”

The Chennai gamer also highlighted how the BGMI esports ecosystem in India has transformed over the years, growing from a small competitive scene into a massive industry featuring large-scale tournaments and prize pools.

With ambitions of winning major championships and establishing himself as one of India’s standout BGMI players, Akshay “Justy” Kumar’s journey is inspiring a new generation of gamers in Chennai and Tamil Nadu to pursue esports professionally and believe in their potential.
