Stuart Vevers’ Fall 2022 Collection was unveiled at a live runway show in New York City from “Somewhere in America,” a fictional Coach neighborhood.

The show, which aired live today on the house’s Instagram and YouTube feeds, elicited old sensations of home and nostalgia for the shared experiences and American stories that bind us together.

Fall revealed the next chapter in Vevers’ view of American heritage, revitalized with the hope and attitude of the next generation. The collection celebrated the role Coach continues to play in shaping the legacy of American style by introducing iconic Coach pieces like shearling and leather outerwear contrasted with romantic lace and crocheted dresses, pops of neon, and leather ready-to-wear inspired by leather bars of the 1970s.

In honor of Bonnie Cashin, Coach’s first head designer, Vevers presented archival outerwear reinvented in shearling as well as an update of Coach’s 1964 Sling bag. Fall also introduced pieces produced in cooperation with graffiti artists Mint&Serf, which were emblazoned with the duo’s raw, emotive artworks.

On Valentine’s Day, the runway show took place within an imagined American neighborhood envisioned in the house’s historical color palette and set against a soundtrack of 70s romance fused with 90s grunge at Basketball City on New York’s Lower East Side.

The experience referenced the stories that define our collective imagination while celebrating how the next generation is rewriting these stories for today, with set pieces designed to elicit the audience’s memories of American towns and choreographed vignettes depicting the daily lives of the characters who live in this town.

On the occasion, Vevers stated that his collections frequently begin with a feeling, and the feeling for Fall was love. To communicate this, the collection reinvestigates Coach’s legacy by exploring contradictions between romance and roughness.

He went on to say that he enjoyed the notion of creating a nostalgic environment someplace in America seen via a widescreen lens, combining today’s excitement with the nostalgia for pop culture that has always fascinated him.

The Fall 2022 show will be followed this week by a series of Coach TV shorts produced in partnership with Amber Schaefer and starring Megan Thee Stallion, Rickey Thompson, Noah Beck, and other Coach Family members.

The series shot on “backstage lots” inspired by classic American film and television sets, explores inside the homes of Coach’s envisioned neighborhood to provide a distinct perspective on the Fall 2022 world.

Coach has also worked with Marquee Marauders Club to develop a line of limited-edition toy figures based on the Coach Family and their “Coachville” characters.
