The FICCI Leadership Delegation will bring together representatives from industry, higher education, skill development institutions, government organisations and the wider education and training ecosystem. The delegation will participate in engagements surrounding the 48th WorldSkills Competition, one of the leading global platforms for vocational and technical skills excellence.

WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 is expected to bring together more than 1,400 young skilled professionals from over 70 countries and regions, competing across 64 skill categories. The event will also feature international discussions and programmes focused on vocational education, workforce development, emerging technologies and the future of work.

Beyond the competition, the FICCI delegation is expected to engage with vocational education and training institutions, universities, corporate learning academies, advanced manufacturing facilities, innovation centres and centres of excellence in and around Shanghai.

These engagements will provide opportunities to examine international approaches to industry-integrated education, employer-led training, digital learning, international certification, future skills and global talent mobility.

The WorldSkills Conference 2026, being held alongside the competition under the theme “Shaping a Skills-Driven Future,” will bring together policymakers, industry leaders, educators and representatives of international skills organisations to discuss the changing requirements of vocational education, workforce development and technology-driven transformation.

Commenting on his participation, Dr. Sureshkumar Madhusudhanan said: “India’s greatest opportunity lies in transforming the potential of our young population into globally benchmarked skills and sustainable employment opportunities. Skills must increasingly be aligned with industry requirements and recognised across international borders.”

He added that WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 would provide an opportunity to study international best practices in vocational education and skills development while exploring avenues for greater international cooperation in skilling and global workforce mobility.
