The electric scooter and motorcycle market witnessed a surge in new launches, bringing innovative and sustainable commuting options to the forefront. Let’s take a closer look at the standout electric two-wheelers that hit the Indian market in 2023.

TVS X: Elevating E-Scooter Luxury

TVS made a bold move by introducing its flagship electric two-wheeler, the X, in August. Drawing inspiration from the Creon concept showcased at Auto Expo 2016, this premium electric scooter comes with a price tag of Rs 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Powered by an 11kW electric motor and a 4.44 kWh battery pack, the X boasts a top speed of 105 kmph, accelerating from 0 to 40 kmph in a swift 2.6 seconds. While deliveries were expected to commence in November, further updates are eagerly awaited.

Eblu Feo: Godawari Electric Motors

Godawari Electric Motors recently unveiled its cutting-edge electric bike, the Eblu Feo, making a significant statement in the electric two-wheeler market. Inspired by futuristic design principles, the Eblu Feo comes with an attractive price tag of Rs 99,999 lakh (ex-showroom). Ola S1 X: Affordable Excellence

Ola Electric introduced its most budget-friendly offering, the S1 X, in August 2023. Priced at Rs 89,999 (ex-showroom, including FAME II subsidy), the scooter is available with two battery options – 2 kWh and 3 kWh – providing single-charge ranges of 85 km and 90 km, respectively. The S1 X boasts swift acceleration, with the base variant reaching 0-40 kmph in 4.1 seconds, while the higher-spec versions achieve the same in just 3.3 seconds.

Oben Rorr: The Revamped Powerhouse

After being unveiled last year, the Oben Rorr officially hit the market in July 2023 at a price of Rs 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Fueled by an 8.8kW PMS motor delivering 330 Nm of peak torque, this motorcycle accelerates from 0 to 40 kmph in a mere 3 seconds, reaching a top speed of 100 kmph. The 4.4 kWh battery pack offers a commendable IDC range of 187 km on a single charge.

Kinetic Zulu: A Green Commuting Option

Kinetic Green’s EV division introduced the Zulu electric scooter, priced at an introductory Rs 94,990 (ex-showroom, Mumbai, inclusive of FAME II). This scooter features a standard battery pack, with an oil-cooled variant planned for a later release.

Simple Dot One: Bengaluru’s Sustainable Scooter

Bengaluru-based Simple Energies contributed to the green movement with the December launch of Dot One, an entry-level scooter priced at Rs 1.0 lakh (ex-showroom). Powered by an 8.5 kW electric motor and a 3.7 kWh battery pack, the Dot One impresses with a 0-40 kmph acceleration in just 2.77 seconds and a top speed of 105 kmph. It also offers practicality with a 35-litre boot equipped with a USB charging port.
