Commenting on the Electric Vehicle retail performance for FY 2025-26, FADA President Mr. C S Vigneshwar said: FY’26 has been a watershed year for India’s electric mobility story. Total EV retail across Two-Wheelers, Three-Wheelers, Passenger Vehicles, and Commercial Vehicles stood at approximately 24.52 lakh units, growing nearly 24.6% YoY – with every category delivering strong double-digit growth. Electric Two-Wheelers crossed 14 lakh units (+21.81%), with EV share rising to 6.5% and March’26 alone clocking a record 9.79% monthly share. Electric Three-Wheelers at 8.30 lakh units (+18.87%) cemented a dominant 60.9% segment share — six in ten Three-Wheelers sold this year were electric, a transition milestone with few parallels globally. Electric Passenger Vehicles surged 83.63% to touch 1,99,923 units — within a whisker of the 2-lakh mark — while Electric Commercial Vehicles more than doubled at +120.57% to 19,454 units, with segment share nearly doubling to 1.83%. This is not just an automobile industry achievement — it is a testament to India’s ability to lead a mass-market energy transition, from the last-mile auto-rickshaw to the family car. This shows that the structural momentum behind India’s EV journey remains firmly intact.
