Flipkart announced its cooperation with Sony Entertainment’s forthcoming show Shark Tank India to aggressively develop India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Shark Tank, an internationally recognized business reality show, has re-energized enterprises in over 40 countries since its debut in 2001, and the inaugural India edition promises to do the same for India’s start-up ecosystem.

Shark Tank India will provide a venue for company ideas, prototypes, and existing firms reviewed for investment by experienced investors and business professionals (known as the Sharks). Shark Tank India, produced by StudioNEXT, will launch on Sony Entertainment Television this December 20 and run every Monday through Friday at 9:00 p.m.

Several Flipkart sellers will also get the opportunity to present their business ideas to the Sharks as part of this cooperation, providing them the opportunity to seek possible financing.

Furthermore, several Shark Tank India participants (entrepreneurs) display their items on Flipkart, India’s domestic e-commerce platform, giving them access to millions of Indian consumers.

Millions of people’s lives have been affected in India during the last year, affecting all sectors of the economy and changing businesses function. Flipkart always highlighted the need to enable the country’s local MSME population by making them more digital and improving their business journeys.

This objective has taken on more relevance in the ecosystem over the last year, with e-commerce playing a crucial role in maintaining livelihoods and allowing MSMEs throughout India to resurrect their operations.

“Our cooperation with Sony Entertainment’s Shark Tank India is another step towards our aim to support, grow, and foster entrepreneurship in India,” stated Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Flipkart Group. It allows us to play a part in accelerating ecosystem growth by providing a platform for these naturally brilliant entrepreneurs from all around the country to establish their businesses. In our ongoing efforts to help Start-up India, we hope that this alliance would be a catalyst for renewing the spirit of entrepreneurship,” Kumar added.

“This is the first season of Shark Tank India, and we are happy to collaborate with Flipkart,” Sandeep Mehrotra, Head of Ad Sales, Network Channels, Sony Pictures Networks India, stated.

“We’re thrilled to have like-minded partners on board who are open to fresh ideas that will help them grow their product through the association,” says the executive director. “Shark Tank India is more than a show; it’s an opportunity to assist the country’s entrepreneurial spirit to reach new heights,” Mehrotra remarked.
