HDBFS Launches Transport Aarogyam Kendra for Truck Drivers in Ludhiana

LUDHIANA, Punjab — September 26th, 2023: HDB Financial Services (HDBFS), India’s leading NBFC inaugurated its fifth Transport Aarogyam Centre (TAK) in Ludhiana today. This initiative is a part of HDB’s CSR program aiming to address the health issues faced by our highway heroes who are an essential part of the economy.

Strategically located within the transport hub of Heeranagar, Ludhiana’s TAK Centre is equipped with the necessary physiotherapy equipment ensuring accurate assessment and effective treatment and is staffed by a specialized team of experts proficient in addressing distinct musculoskeletal concerns prevalent among truck drivers.  TAK provides free physiotherapy counselling sessions including sensitizing the drivers on the right postures while driving, exercises they can perform while on the move for hours together and other required treatments, promoting a holistic approach to their health and well-being.

Doctors and paramedical staff will also conduct regular visits to truck driver rest areas, petrol stations, and transport nagars within 30 kms radius of the Ludhiana centre, thus ensuring a wider outreach. This will facilitate trucker drivers to access primary healthcare in addition to the physiotherapy services.

Commenting on the launch, Mr. Ajay Thakur, National Head – Asset Finance, at HDB Financial Services, said “It’s a feeling of accomplishment and pride to see what started off as a 5 day camp in Delhi in the year 2020 has now flourished as five full time Physiotherapy centres, thanks to the overwhelming response from the community. TAK centres have come to the truck drivers’ rescue treating various ailments and has successfully impacted the lives of over 70k drivers across the nation so far. I would urge that the community makes the best use of the transport Aarogyam Kendra in Ludhiana and prioritize their health and well-being.”

Ms. Rashmi Jain, Head- Business Partnerships & Strategic Collaborations , of Smile Foundation said, “We’re pleased to have partnered with HDB Financial Services to launch the Transport Aarogyam Kendra in Ludhiana. Many daily wage workers, including truck drivers, often forego their healthcare needs to provide for their families. This initiative aligns with Smile’s healthcare program, where we strive to deliver quality healthcare services to vulnerable communities across the nation.”

Other TAK Centres successfully launched by HDBFS are located in Delhi, Mumbai, Namakkal, and Ranchi in strategically located transport hubs which makes physiotherapy counselling and treatment easily accessible to truck drivers.
