HDFC Bank: Know transaction charges, and withdrawal limit

For savings and salary accounts, HDFC Bank noprovides five free transactions per month at HDFC Bank ATMs. For other banks, there are five free transactions at non-metro ATMs and three free transactions at metro ATMs. Over the permitted number of free withdrawals, HDFC Bank charges Rs. 21 plus any applicable taxes; for non-financial withdrawals, the fee is Rs. 8.50 + GST.

Activ, Ascent, Max Advantage Plus, Professionals, Ecomm, SmartUp Alpha, SmartUp Growth, SmartUp Max, Ultima, Apex, Max, Flexi, Merchant Advantage Plus, and Supreme account holders at HDFC Bank can benefit from additional advantages such as unlimited ATM withdrawals. However, the bank would start charging after three free transactions at metro ATMs and five free transactions at non-metro ATMs.

Beyond the established limit of free transactions, a fee of 21 plus relevant taxes will be charged for cash withdrawals and non-financial transactions.

Hospitals, nursing homes, pathology labs, and current accounts under the Regular, Premium, Trade, Merchant Advantage, and Ezee can all make unlimited withdrawals from HDFC Bank’s ATM. However, these accounts will be debited starting with the very first withdrawal made from an ATM owned by a different bank. Transactions done at HDFC Bank ATMs will only be charged for cash withdrawals. The mini statement, PIN change, and balance inquiry are free non-financial transactions.

Both financial (cash withdrawal) and non-financial transactions will be taken into account when billing for transactions made at ATMs that are not HDFC Bank ATMs (Balance Enquiry, Mini Statement & PIN Change).

According to the HDFC Bank website, transactions made at ATMs in Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad would be categorized as Metro ATM transactions.

 Customers of HDFC Bank should be aware that domestic ATM transactions finished after 7:30 PM will be counted as transactions from the following day. ATM withdrawals made after 7:30 p.m. on the last day of the month would be counted in the following month. Transactions that are detected for a charge after the required free limitations have been reached will be calculated based on the aforementioned cut-off times.
