Bengaluru, January 10th, 2024: The first edition of SFA Championships in Bengaluru is set to unfold, promising a first-ever exposure to multi-sports for athletes across the city. With more than 12000 athletes from over 450 schools having confirmed their participation, the SFA Championships aims to discover “number one school in sports” in the city. The SFA Championships is an endeavour by Sports For All (SFA), India’s largest tech-enabled multi-sports school competition platform.

Padukone Dravid Centre for Excellence, Sri Jayaprakash Narayan National Youth Training Centre and Force 1 Skating Rink, Bengaluru’s state-of-the-art infrastructure will be the hosting venues for school athletes from January 16th to January 25th. In the inaugural edition of the Bengaluru Championships, school athletes will get on the playground for team and individual sports such as racquet sports, athletics, combat sports, indigenous sports like kabaddi and kho kho, as well as football, basketball, throwball and volleyball, amongst many others.

With 69% participation from male athletes and 31% female athletes, the top preferred sports registered for include football, athletics, badminton, basketball, kabaddi, highlight the diverse talent pool among the youth. The top sports for female athletes in Bengaluru include athletics, badminton, basketball, football, skating, while football, athletics, badminton, chess and kabaddi are the top sports opted for by male athletes.

SFA Championships are India’s largest multi-sport school competitions, enabling an opportunity for youth to unleash their fullest potential through joyful and inspiring sporting experiences. These Championships are revolutionising the way school sports are experienced in India, aiming to host 150 Championships in 50 cities over the next five years. SFA envisions creating a unified platform, accessible with a simple click, to discover talent across various sports. Within the last two months, the SFA Championships have served as a catalyst for over 80,000 athletes hailing from more than 3,000 schools, across 6 cities, for the calendar year 2023-2024.

To deliver an unparalleled sporting experience, the SFA Championships will provide young athletes with top-notch infrastructure, certified match officials, and referees. The infrastructure includes comprehensive medical stations with on-site physiotherapists, clinics, and workshops. Through a digitally integrated system, athletes gain access to detailed statistics, performance analysis, and match videography. The website’s digital record empowers athletes to review and compare performances with peers across states, fostering a healthy competitive environment. Envision this as a multisport platform akin to the Olympics, enabling every school to send their athlete contingent for spirited sports competition.

Contributing to strengthen the sporting ecosystem of the country, Sports For All (SFA) and Viacom18 have joined forces to SFA Championships for millions of sports enthusiasts nationwide.
