The LEGO Group has unveiled ‘Everyone is Awesome,’ its first LGBTQIA+ themed set celebrating Pride Month and diversity among its fan base and LGBTQIA+ community spread across the world. The set will debut on June 1st, the first day of Pride Month. Designed by Matthew Ashton, the set includes 11 monochrome figures, each with its own hairstyle and rainbow colour. The colours in the ‘Everyone is Awesome’ set are inspired by the rainbow flag and include the whole spectrum of colours from the flag, which is a symbol of love and acceptability.

The set represents the breadth of the LGBTQIA+ community and therefore the whole line-up of Minifigures are purposefully not gendered and it’s up to the builder what gender they see in each of the characters. The set also includes black and brown colours to represent the “broad diversity of everyone within the LGBTQIA+ community,” as well as pale blue, white and pink representing the transgender community and a purple drag queen figure.

‘Everyone is Awesome’ is a 346-piece model that stands 10.24 cm tall and has a depth of 12.80 cm. The eye-catching model is designed to perfectly fit most shelves, or window sills and it’ll be something people will look forward to proudly display in their homes. The set will hit the LEGO online stores on June 1st and will also be available through LEGO branded stores.

The LEGO Group is a Danish toy-production company founded in 1932, best known for its Lego-brand toys, consisting mostly of interlocking plastic bricks. The company has been in the toy market for over 8 decades and have also released 5 LEGO movies to date. This is the first time LEGO will be offering its fan base a wide spectrum of colours in a single set. ‘Everyone is Awesome’ is a “real thank you to the LGBTQIA+ community” that has been so loyal to the LEGO Group over the years.

‘Everyone is Awesome’ reaffirms the group’s brand values of fun, creativity, learning, quality and imagination, which apply to everyone irrespective of their age or gender. Through the model, LEGO wants to convey the important message that “LEGO is for everybody.”

Matthew Ashton, Vice President, Design- LEGO, said, “I think there’s still a huge amount of people that struggle in all different parts of the world with either discrimination, or hate, or violence.” That being one of the major reasons why Ashton and LEGO group created the LGBQIA+ themed-set “to make sure that we show people that you can really see the best in other people, and even though other people might be slightly different to you, there’s still good in everyone.”
