Under the guidance of the Maharashtra government, L’Oréal India and the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) have signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to support the Women4Climate Mumbai Chapter.

Women4Climate is a joint effort of C40 Cities and Fondation L’Oréal in which women from C40 cities may propose and implement activities based on the principle of “think local, act globally.

Aditya Thackeray, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister of Tourism and Environment, Maharashtra Government, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Additional Municipal Commissioner (City), Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai, 25 mentees, and leadership from L’Oréal India, C40 Cities, and Women4Climate took part in the virtual launch.

“In our quest for modernity, we must remember to find a balance between development and climate change,” Aditya Thackeray, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister of Tourism and Environment, Government of Maharashtra, remarked.

To do so, we must dismantle the language of climate change, simplify it further, and make every person aware of what climate change means to them as individuals, as a society, and as occupants of a single planet.

I’m convinced that, with the help of the 25 mentees, a group of truly outstanding climate action leaders, we’ll be able to meet the goals of the Mumbai Climate Action Plan (MCAP) and make climate action a priority for residents. Thank you for your support in this campaign, L’Oréal India.

“At L’Oréal India, we have sustainability at the very core of our business model,” said Amit Jain, Managing Director.

We are honored to be a part of the Women4Climate-Mumbai chapter, which is dedicated to assisting women in advancing the city of Mumbai’s climate goals and local climate solutions.

We are certain that by collaborating with C40 Cities, Fondation L’Oréal, the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai, and the Maharashtra government, the Women4Climate Mumbai Chapter will contribute to a more inclusive and sustainable society.

L’Oréal India will support the Women4Climate Mumbai Chapter through a unique mentorship program that pairs mentors (committed leaders from the public and private sectors, international organizations.

The civil society members) with emerging women leaders at various stages of developing climate solutions that will contribute to the city’s set climate priorities and action plans, as part of the C40-Fondation L’Oréal partnership.
