NDTV Strengthens Its Social Media Team, Appoints Prashanti Moktan to Lead Instagram

September 15, 2026: The way people discover and engage with news is changing fast, with social media now playing a central role in how stories are found, shared and discussed. As part of its growing focus on social platforms, NDTV has appointed Prashanti Moktan as Head of Instagram. In this role, she will lead NDTV’s Instagram strategy while also helping shape content, audience engagement, and growth initiatives across the network’s wider social media presence.

Prashanti brings more than 13 years of experience in digital media, audience growth and content strategy. Before joining NDTV, she was Senior Assistant Editor at Business Today, where she led the brand’s social media platforms with a combined following of over 4.7 million. Under her leadership, Business Today’s Instagram reach grew to 100 million per month, while follower growth increased by more than 200%.

Rahul Kanwal, CEO and Editor-in-Chief, NDTV, said on her appointment: ‘social media is reshaping how people consume news and engage with the stories that matter to them. As we continue to strengthen NDTV’s digital presence, Prashanti’s deep understanding of audiences and platform-led storytelling will help us build stronger connections with viewers across social media.’

At NDTV, Prashanti will focus on building compelling social-first formats, growing audience engagement and helping the network connect with newer audiences across platforms.

Vinay Sarawgi, Chief Content Officer, NDTV, said, ‘Great journalism needs to meet audiences where they are. Prashanti brings a strong blend of editorial judgment, creativity and audience insight, and I look forward to seeing her build new formats that extend NDTV’s reach and relevance across social platforms.’

On her appointment, Prashanti Moktan said, ‘social media is increasingly central to how people experience news – how they discover it, engage with it and participate in the conversation around it. NDTV has one of India’s most recognised news brands, and I am excited by the opportunity to help take its storytelling to newer audiences and build formats that are distinctive, relevant and native to each platform.’

Prashanti holds a degree in Journalism, Psychology and English from Christ University, Bengaluru, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Radio and Television Journalism from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi.

Her appointment reflects NDTV’s continued investment in digital and social media as it expands its reach across new audiences and platforms.
