On the eve of Diwali, Central Government gifted the general public a piece of nice news regarding the prices of fuel. The central government decided to cut down the exercise by 5 rupees on petrol and 10 rupees and diesel.

This price cut has been good news post-pandemic this was first major price cut in petrol and diesel. But Kerala government had some other plans with time. Decided not to reduce the price of petrol in an attempt of saving the economy of a state Kerala is going through some financial crisis.

So they decided to keep the revenue to themselves. This was a big decision for Kerala because even in Kerala the prices of petrol are quite high and people are a bit concerned about it as well.

Despite the opposition being against this decision the government has decided to stay with this decision.

The Kerala government has been continuously helping the central government with the supply of Oxygen and other state governments as well. During the pandemic, the Kerala government also helped in other ways and maintained the Covid-19 situation very well. Currently facing a green situation as far as the economy is concerned.

Mr. K N Balagopal the finance minister of the Kerala state has said in the press conference that when many other states had increased fuel prices and introduce s during the covid-19 period Kerala had not done so considering the plight of struggling commuters.

This means that basically, Kerala did not take the price from their people going the covid-19 pandemic. Also alleged that this decision by the central government to slash the excise duty on petrol and diesel was because of the setbacks BJP suffered during this bi polls in various states.

To justify the state’s decision, not to additional cut on the taxes petrol and diesel the finance minister of Kerala continued saying Kerala has not increased the state tax on petrol and diesel since last 6 years and it was reduced once which is remarkable in itself.

Many of the people in Kerala and also from the opposition party are not happy with the decision but it is been taken in an attempt of keeping the economy going and growing.
