Abhishek Maity – Partner, Adbuffs

Abhishek has an extensive 12 years of experience in the digital marketing industry. He embarked on his digital marketing entrepreneurial journey with Ramasish, Co-Founder of Adbuffs in 2019 to help eCommerce brands grow faster. He is a passionate advertiser and marketing manager who stays ahead in the earliest iterations of digital media and gets hands-on countless resources to accelerate growth.

Recognized for his sharp diligence in identifying market behavior, Abhishek formulates a full-funnel marketing strategy that results in substantial revenue growth of businesses. He is presently leading Adbuffs with an expansive portfolio of eCommerce performance marketing.

Abhishek is renowned for his agility and flexibility to achieve larger goals. Being out in front, he sets the pace for the team and demonstrates his unwavering grit until the ROAS for brands is not maximized.

Abhishek is a B.E. (Chemical Engineering) who now specializes in managing all aspects of ad execution and optimization of clients. Prior to his entrepreneurial stint, he was also associated with Cognizant Technology Solutions, Right Hook Digital.

Take us through the journey of Adbuffs?

In the age of all things digital, D2C is booming, and that’s where Adbuffs steps in. Back in 2019, India was filled with agencies doing media buying, but none were offering the magic combo of performance creative services and media buying. So, we decided to start Adbuffs, not just as another agency, but as a partner for DTC brands hungry for growth.

Picture July ’19 – just four of us, juggling 10 accounts, dreaming big. Fast forward to December ’20, we doubled our team to 10, handling 15 accounts. March ’21, a game-changer with Creative Juicer joining our family. Now, we’re a team of 100 and counting.

Looking ahead of July ’23, we’re thinking big – 200 team members, offices in Pune and Bangalore – because why not? Adbuffs is on a mission to be more than a marketing sidekick; we want to be the go-to for DTC brands. And guess what? We’re not just stopping at media and creative. We’re diving into market research, because that’s how we roll. It’s been a wild ride, and we’re just getting started.

Elaborate on the present market scenario. How do you plan to scale the business?

In the rapidly evolving digital marketing landscape of India, the Direct-to-Customer (D2C) market has burgeoned into a $12 billion industry, expected to soar to $60 billion by 2024 with a remarkable CAGR of 40%. In this dynamic ecosystem, Adbuffs stands out as a trailblazer, particularly as a creative-first agency. What distinguishes us is our unwavering commitment to the art of content creation. Could you shed some light on your tie-ups and partnerships so far?

Though partnerships have been quite a number so far, where we have worked with brands which are a big name on day today as well, but we wouldn’t be able to share the names. However, would like to mention two of the recent tie ups, one with the leading logistic partner Shiprocket, and the other with a budding retention marketing tool Omnisend.

 

What are your expansion/ growth plans for the coming 3-5 years?

From a 2-member team back in 2019 operating from a small 1 room flat, to a 100 member team strength with a full fledged operational office has been a consistent growth. Presently we have just taken up 3 more office spaces, which we wish to have an interior for where people would crave to visit to, and an expansion in Pune simultaneously. Over the next 3-5 years therefore, a couple of more expansions, tie ups and revenue growth would definitely be on our minds. While we are a bootstrap, we’d definitely love to have the badge of ‘best place to work’.

 

Can you tell us about any challenges your company has faced and how it overcame them?

When you are extremely new to the business fraternity, you keep making mistakes and learning from them. One of it probably was the lack of a far fetched directional vision, trying to have plenty on our plates at the same time. But then we all grow with experience. Hopefully we did too. Now we are more aligned to our thoughts, we now have a strong vision statement, which we have broken into smaller goals which we are trying to achieve. Probably that helped us in not only having the team strength we have today, but also retaining them over the years.

 

Can you walk us through a recent successful project your company completed and what made it successful?

For our our client INNOVIST we were given the project to create UGC content for all their brands. 4 brands – Chemist at play, bare anatomy, sunscoop and nudge. The client wanted a good quality UGC content in high volume.

What made this project a success?  From the very first day our team worked with the client to set a process for the deliverables that worked for both parties. We followed a process that reduced the number of back and forth that usually happens when shooting for big brands. We were able to deliver all the videos on time which helped the client in their creative testing process.
