PRASA Launches One of India’s Largest Dedicated Modular Data Center Manufacturing Facilities; Plans ₹60+ Crore Investment and 650+ Jobs

Mulshi, June 9th, Pune, Maharashtra: As India accelerates towards becoming one of the world’s fastest-growing digital economies, the demand for robust data center infrastructure is rising at an unprecedented pace. Driven by artificial intelligence, cloud computing, digital services, enterprise technology and data localization requirements, the country is witnessing a massive expansion in digital infrastructure investments.

Responding to this opportunity, PRASA inaugurated its advanced data center manufacturing facility in the Mulshi industrial belt near Pune. Developed with an initial investment of over ₹20 crore and backed by a planned total investment exceeding ₹60 crore, the facility represents a significant step towards strengthening data center infrastructure India through manufacturing-led innovation.

Spread across nearly 40,000 sq. ft., the facility is among the few dedicated manufacturing hubs in India focused exclusively on modular data center infrastructure. Designed around Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles, the plant will manufacture containerized data centers, DFMA skids, cooling skids, power skids, prefabricated steel structures and integrated infrastructure systems for mission-critical environments.

The facility has been established to address one of the industry’s most pressing challenges— reducing infrastructure deployment timelines while maintaining quality, reliability and scalability. By shifting a substantial portion of data center build services from construction sites to a controlled manufacturing environment, PRASA aims to accelerate project execution while improving consistency and quality assurance.

Commenting on the launch, Jay Burse, Chief Vision Officer (CVO), PRASA, said:

“India’s digital growth story will ultimately be shaped by the strength of its physical infrastructure. As AI, cloud and enterprise technologies scale rapidly, the industry needs faster, smarter and more predictable ways to build infrastructure. This facility reflects our belief that the future of data center infrastructure will increasingly be manufacturing-led.”

The facility will support hyperscale operators, colocation providers, cloud companies, telecom operators, enterprise customers and emerging AI data center infrastructure projects across the country. PRASA continues to work with leading stakeholders across the digital infrastructure ecosystem, while customer-specific engagements remain subject to confidentiality agreements.

Beyond manufacturing, the project is expected to generate over 650 direct and indirect employment opportunities across engineering, fabrication, project management, logistics, quality assurance and supply chain operations.

Sustainability forms a core pillar of the facility’s long-term vision. The plant will initially operate with partial solar power integration and forms part of PRASA’s broader roadmap towards establishing a renewable energy manufacturing facility aligned with global sustainability standards. The company plans to progressively increase renewable energy adoption while supporting sustainable data center infrastructure and green data center infrastructure initiatives.

Over the next three to five years, PRASA plans further investments in automation, advanced manufacturing technologies and precision engineering capabilities, strengthening its position as a leading provider of modular infrastructure solutions for the evolving digital economy.

As India’s demand for digital infrastructure continues to accelerate, PRASA’s new Pune data center infrastructure facility is positioned to become a critical manufacturing backbone supporting the nation’s next phase of growth.
