After a successful run across North America, Europe, the Middle East, South East Asia and the United Kingdom, the Sitar for Mental Health India Tour 2026 by critically acclaimed sitarist and neo-classical music artist Rishab Rikhiram Sharma concluded this weekend with a landmark finale on home turf, marking one of the most significant milestones in India’s experiential live music industry.
Spanning Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, New Delhi and Kolkata, the tour recorded an unprecedented ₹50+ crore in revenue and over 1 lakh cumulative footfall, establishing a brand-new benchmark for spiritual live music formats in India. It also signals the growing mainstream acceptance and resurgence of neo-classical music experiences within the country’s evolving cultural landscape.
The 10-city Kotak Mahindra Bank – Solitaire presents Sitar For Mental Health India Tour, produced by Team Innovation in association with District by Zomato, has emerged as a defining cultural movement that bridges Indian classical music with wellness-driven experiential entertainment.
The success of the tour reflects a rapidly transforming concert economy centered on sound healing, raga therapy and mantra chanting, with strong and increasing participation from Gen Z audiences, positioning this format as a key driver of the next phase of India’s live entertainment ecosystem.
Mohit Bijlani, Co-Founder, Team Innovation states, “This tour was never just about scale it was about reshaping perception. Alongside Rishab Rikhiram Sharma, we aimed to demonstrate that Indian neo-classical and spiritual live concert experiences can command stadium-level demand when presented through a contemporary, emotionally resonant lens, led by a trailblazing artist who truly embodies that vision. What stood out most was the diversity of the audience, from Gen Z discovering this space for the first time to lifelong connoisseurs of classical music, with Rishab Rikhiram Sharma successfully bridging generations through his work.”
Siddhesh Kudtarkar, Co-Founder, Team Innovationstates, “From the outset, our goal was to build a touring IP that felt immersive, intentional, and globally benchmarked, while staying deeply rooted in Indian tradition. The response across all 10 cities surpassed every expectation, not only in terms of attendance but in the depth of emotional engagement we witnessed. Most significantly, this tour reflects the rise of a new category of live experiences, where mental well-being, spirituality and music are not peripheral ideas but the central narrative itself.”
The tour attracted a distinguished audience across its cities, bringing together prominent figures from the worlds of cinema, business, and culture, including Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Rajeev Shukla, Tara Sutaria, Mrunal Thakur, Deepika Padukone, Anju Bhavnani, Ritika Bhavnani, Kumar Mangalam Birla, Nikhil Kamath, Gauri Khan, Maheep Kapoor, Soha Ali Khan, Sayani Gupta, Zara Khan, Bhavana Pandey, Tamannaah Bhatia, Jay Shah, Sanjana Ganesan, Sobhita Dhulipala and Sneha Reddy, reflecting the tour’s wide cultural resonance across industries.
Across its run, the tour delivered several standout moments that blended innovation, artistry and scale. These included the unveiling of India’s first LED instrument, SITARA – The Next Generation Electric Sitar created by Sanjay Rikhi Ram, the illumination of the Mumbai Sea Link celebrating the monumental success of the tour and a bespoke presentation of an 11,000-diamond encrusted portrait created by artist Vipool Jepiwala.
The musical narrative of the tour was equally distinctive, featuring contemporary reinterpretations of iconic works such as Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s ‘Man Atkeya Beparwah De Naal,’ Rabindranath Tagore’s ‘Ekla Cholo Re,’ Asha Bhosle’s ‘Abhi Na Jao Chhod Kar,’ alongside devotional compositions including ‘Kit Bidh Miley’ and ‘Chandrachooda,’ reinforcing the tour’s fusion of tradition and modern expression.
Sustainability remained central to the grand finale in New Delhi, which was designed with a strong environmental focus. The introduction of xylo bands in a classical concert setting for the first time, along with the complete omission of fireworks, were intentional measures aimed at reducing environmental impact and maintaining air quality, underscoring the tour’s commitment to responsible large-scale live entertainment.
In addition to its musical and experiential innovation, the tour also established a strong visual identity through fashion collaborations. Rishab Rikhiram Sharma collaborated with leading Indian design houses including JADE, Anita Dongre, Shantanu Hazarika, Madhurya Creations, Shantanu & Nikhil, Jigar Mali, Dolly J, Mayyur Girotra, Rimple & Harpreet, Shantanu Goenka and Misho Studio, seamlessly integrating homegrown couture with classical performance aesthetics.
With its record-breaking commercial performance, cultural reach, and conceptual depth, the Sitar for Mental Health India Tour 2026 by the disciple of Pandit Ravi Shankar, Rishab Rikhiram Sharma, has set a new benchmark for the evolution of Indian classical music in the modern era, transforming it from a traditional performance format into a large-scale, purpose-driven cultural movement.
