Lionsgate Play scales its Hollywood offerings – Bigger, Bolder, Theatrical First; Announces Heated Rivalry Season 2

Marks a significant change in gear with an expanded Hollywood slate of 100+ premieres featuring some of the biggest names in global cinema; alongside the returning hit Heated Rivalry S2

National, 20 th April, 2026: Lionsgate Play is entering its next phase of growth with its most ambitious Hollywood push yet anchored by 100+ premieres in 2026 and the exclusive return of Heated Rivalry Season 2 in 2027. Signaling a strategic shift towards a screen agnostic model, the platform is bringing films to Indian cinemas with 10–12 premium titles to Indian cinemas ahead of their streaming debut on the platform and shaping a more seamless journey from the big screen to streaming.

What defines this next chapter is a decisive shift in how stories reach audiences. At the heart of this is a theatrical-first approach for select titles. Beginning September 2026, a curated slate including Russel Crowe’s Billion Dollar Spy,  Gerard Butler’s Empire City , Robert Pattinson’s  Primetime, Mark Wahlberg’s By Any Means and Creature feature like Titan (Snake) will roll out in cinemas before streaming exclusively on Lionsgate Play. This reflects a clear strategic conviction: great stories deserve theatrical scale, and Indian audiences are ready for Hollywood on more screens than ever before. With this, Lionsgate Play joins a select few platforms seamlessly bridging theatrical and streaming in a premium, integrated way.

Lionsgate Play has carved out a distinct content identity – pairing high-octane Hollywood entertainment with compelling global and regional stories that cut through the clutter and build loyal audiences. From action-driven titles like John Wick, Den of Thieves 2, and The Beekeeper to globally acclaimed titles such as The Apprentice, Heated Rivalry, Normal People, and Paris Has Fallen, alongside regional standouts like Dakshina, Eleven, Soothravakyam, and Racharikam, the platform continues to balance scale with substance.

This momentum carries into 2026 with a sharper focus on star-driven action and thrillers. Anchored in its positioning as the ‘Home of Hollywood blockbusters’, the upcoming slate features high profile titles like Gerard Butler’s Greenland 2: Migration, Jason Statham’s Mutiny, Angelina Jolie’s Couture, Zac Efron’s Famous, and  Matthew McConaughey’s The Rivals of Amziah King. The ‘Has Fallen’ franchise further expands with Apollo Has Fallen and Vigil Season 3 building on a fan-favourite universe that has found a strong home on the platform. Complemented by a growing regional lineup, the slate underscores Lionsgate Play’s commitment to delivering cinematic scale, global stars, and stories that resonate widely.

Rohit Jain, Founder – Lionsgate Play Asia, shared, “Over the past few years, we’ve built Lionsgate Play into a destination for bold, high-impact storytelling. In 2026, we’re delivering on that vision at full scale, with 100+ premieres, returning franchises, and now, the big screen itself under one roof. Our move into theatrical-first releases marks an important step, giving films the cinematic scale they deserve while ensuring a seamless journey to streaming. As the industry evolves, we’re embracing a more integrated approach across theatrical and digital windows. This next phase is about backing stronger stories, collaborating with compelling talent, and building a platform audiences keep coming back to. From big screen experiences to premium streaming, this is our most ambitious chapter yet.”

The best of Hollywood is here. And in 2026, it is louder than ever.
