Shiseido India Marks International Women’s Day with the Launch of Camellia Day Initiative Partners with Rotary Club of Mumbai Coastline to Lead a Community-Driven Women’s Health Programme in Kamathipura, Mumbai

Mumbai, India: Marking International Women’s Day, Shiseido India has launched a community-led women’s health initiative in partnership with the Rotary Club of Mumbai Coastline, supporting women in the Kamathipura area of Mumbai. The programme forms part of Camellia Day, Shiseido Group’s global social impact initiative, and underscores the company’s commitment to advancing dignity, health, and gender equality in the communities it serves.

Designed to support 300 women in Kamathipura, the initiative adopts a holistic approach that combines menstrual health education, distribution of sustainable menstrual cups, and nutritional support, while fostering long-term awareness and behavioural change.

“At Shiseido, we believe that empowerment begins with access to education, healthcare, and the ability to make informed choices,” said Sanjay Sharma, Country Head, Shiseido India. “Launching this initiative on International Women’s Day as part of our global Camellia Day programme reinforces our commitment to empowering women and building resilient communities in India. Through trusted partnerships such as the Rotary Club of Mumbai Coastline, we are able to deliver meaningful, sustained impact at the community level.”

Implemented with the support of volunteers from Rotary Club of Mumbai Coastline and medical professionals, the initiative includes structured health education sessions on menstrual hygiene practices and the importance of preventive healthcare. A key component of the initiative is the provision of menstrual cups, a sustainable solution that can last up to ten years. This not only reduces the financial burden of recurring menstrual products but also promotes environmentally responsible choices and empowers women with greater autonomy over their health. In addition, participants will also receive culturally appropriate, nutritious meals, reinforcing a holistic approach to wellbeing delivered with dignity and care.

“True community impact begins when essential needs are met with empathy and action,” said Kavit Sethi, President, Rotary Club of Mumbai Coastline. “By addressing menstrual hygiene through awareness and sustainable solutions, we are helping women lead healthier, more confident lives and strengthening the fabric of our communities.”

For women in underserved communities, access to menstrual hygiene is not merely a health concern—it is deeply connected to dignity, confidence, and equality,” said Dr. Nishant Mehta, Immediate Past President, Rotary Club of Mumbai Coastline and Chairperson of this project. “Through our partnership with Shiseido, we are able to provide both education and access to safe, sustainable menstrual solutions for women who need them most. This collaboration helps break barriers that often restrict women’s participation in everyday life, supporting their wellbeing while advancing gender equity at the community level.”

“Across Asia Pacific, Camellia Day mobilises our employees to be active contributors in their local communities – through volunteering, mentoring and long-term partnerships that create meaningful social impact. We are proud to see this purpose come alive in India through a community-led programme that supports women’s health and dignity. It reflects our mission, Beauty Innovations for a Better World, and our commitment to advancing gender equality through action,” said Nicole Tan, President & CEO, Shiseido Asia Pacific.
