‘Spider-Man: No Way Home seized the number 1 spot over the holiday weekend as 2021 comes to a close. The movie obtained many milestones even while having stiff competition and crossed the $1billion mark worldwide.

The Sony and Marvel film overcame the obstacles of the omicron variant and stringent social distancing regulations to achieve great success. The covid situation paired with the holiday season gave the infamous line “With great power comes great responsibility” significant gravity.

Spider-Man No Way Home outperformed the entire box office during the pandemic to emerge as the third-best opening movie of all time following its marvel predecessors, Avengers Endgame and Avengers Infinity War.

It also surpassed Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which held the record for the best opening in the pandemic.

The Sony Pictures chairman, Tom Rothman, exclaimed on the fulfillment of the movie over the weekend, believing it to be the cultural impact that exclusive theatrical releases have when they are produced and marketed with vision and resolve.

According to studio evaluations, No Way Home gathered $81.5 million over the three-day weekend. The Superhero film has now grossed $467 million from North American theatres surpassing Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, the most grossed movie in 2021.

Spider-Man No Way Home has grossed $1.05 billion globally within the first two weeks, the first 12 days to be more precise. Around $587.1 million came from 61 overseas markets.

Fascinatingly, without the benefit of having released in theatres in China, No Way Home became the first movie during the pandemic to cross $1 billion becoming the third-fastest movie to do so sharing the position with Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The North American box office is currently sitting at $4.3 billion as 2021 is biting the dust. It is expected that the box office will procure around $4.4 billion. Normally in the pre-pandemic era, a year’s box office would easily exceed 11 billion dollars.

As the third standalone Spider-Man film in the Tom Holland era, ‘No Way Home’ Directed by Jon Watts, deals with the revelation of spider man’s identity as Peter Parker and the events that follow. The insinuation of many possible spoiler gossips undoubtedly captured more attention.
