A survey by research firm NPD says that tablets will overtake laptops by 2016 because of shifting customer preferences for mobile computing. Markets like Western Europe, North America and Japan will be mainly driving the growth and 60% of shipments of tablets would continue to these countries. In 2012, the total shipment to these countries stands at 66%. Apples i-pad dominates the market with 62.8% market share and Samsung comes at measly second at 7.5%. It is expected that by 2017, the overall shipment of tablets and laptops will grown from 327 million in 2012 to over 800 million.
