On January 14, Amazon Prime Video will debut Putham Pudhu Kaalai Vidiyaadhaa, a new Tamil anthology.

It stars Joju George, Nadiya Moidu, Lijomol Jose, Arjun Das, and Aishwarya Lekshmi and is the sequel to the previously published Tamil anthology Putham Pudhu Kaalai.

To be sure, programmes like Paava Kadhaigal, Pitta Kathalu, Navarasa, Ajeeb Daastaans, Unpaused, and Putham Pudhu Kaalai have been great bets on anthologies across languages on Netflix and Amazon.

Last year, Amazon Prime Video attracted backlash for web series including Tandav and Mirzapur 2.

Ram Setu, starring Akshay Kumar, was also revealed as the company’s first step into the field of film production.

During the epidemic, it also acquired a slew of Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam films and released Putham Pudhu Kaalai, a Tamil anthology of five short films starring Rajiv Menon, Suhasini Mani Ratnam, and also Karthik Subbaraj.

With the debut of Prime Video Channels in September, Amazon became a content aggregator in India, making eight additional subscription-based video-on-demand services available on its app and website.

Prime Video consumers will watch streaming services like Discovery+, Lionsgate Play, Docubay, Eros Now, MUBI, Hoichoi, Manorama Max, and Shorts TV with add-on subscriptions to their services want. A single billing system will be used.

In January, it also introduced its first mobile-only package globally, beginning in India. The decision comes more than a year after Netflix, a US competitor, offered a mobile service in India for 199 (now Rs. 149) a month.

The Amazon package, which was launched in conjunction with telecom operator Bharti Airtel, was exclusively accessible to pre-paid Airtel subscribers and came in two flavours: a 30-day free trial followed by a 28-day plan priced at Rs. 89 for Prime Video content and 6GB bandwidth.

Amazon Channels, often known as Prime Video Channels, is a content add-on service that allows Prime Video subscribers to subscribe to other video subscription services from other content providers.

The service primarily distributes Amazon Originals, films and television shows created by Amazon Studios or licenced to Amazon. Other content sources, content add-ons, live sporting events, and video rental and purchase choices are also available.
