Wakefit’s Sleep Internship Season 5 Crowns Mumbai’s Jiniya Chatterjee as winner

Over 2 lakh applications, 10 sleep interns, a wildcard comeback and a reality-TV-inspired finale culminate in the crowning of Wakefit's newest Sleep Champion Pre-registrations for Season 6 will open soon

National |5th November 2026: Wakefit Innovations Limited, one of India’s leading D2C home and furnishing company, has wrapped up the fifth season of its much-loved Sleep Internship, proving that sometimes, the road to success really does run through your bed. Taking home a prize of ₹9.6 lakh and a Wakefit-sponsored vacation, Jiniya Chatterjee of Mumbai has been crowned the Sleep Champion of Season 5, after two months of competitive snoozing, weekly challenges and enough plot twists to rival a reality TV show.

Season 5 saw an overwhelming response with over 2 lakh applications from sleep enthusiasts across the country. Following multiple rounds of screening and personal interviews, 10 lucky candidates were selected for the internship, where the job description was refreshingly simple: prioritise sleep, track your performance, and prove you’ve got what it takes to become India’s next Sleep Champion.

Over the course of approximately 60 days, the interns were tasked with maintaining consistent sleep routines and tracking their sleep performance, with their daily scores reflected on a leaderboard. Alongside their sleep routines, the interns participated in a series of creative weekly challenges designed to test their enthusiasm, creativity and ability to take on unexpected tasks. These included Sleep Cinema, where participants recreated famous movie scenes with a sleep angle; Sleep Bingo, which challenged them to assess their sleep habits over a week; and the Undercover Sleep Mission, where they had to say “blanket” or “pillow” 10 times in a conversation without being detected. Each week, the standout performer earned the coveted title of Pro Sleeper of the Week.

After two months of sleep scores and spirited competition, Ratnagiri Manikandan, Jiniya Chatterjee and Mehek Khot emerged as the top three finalists. However, in an unexpected twist, Karim Khan from Hyderabad, who had won the highest number of weekly creative challenges, returned to the competition as a wildcard entry. This turned the grand finale into a four-contestant showdown. Titled Big Bedd, the finale took a satirical approach to the larger-than-life world of Indian reality television, featuring dramatic entrances, unexpected twists and high-stakes challenges.

The finale featured the Memory Foam Challenge, a team-based bedroom recreation task that tested the contestants’ observation, memory, and teamwork. They were shown reference images of an ideal bedroom setup and challenged to recreate the space within a limited time. The showdown came in the form of a Sleep Auction, where finalists were given a limited pool of points to bid for essential elements of their sleeping environment, including pillows, blankets, AC control, lighting, and sound control. The auction even featured a rap lullaby by host and influencer Anuj Gupta.

With their carefully curated sleep environments ready, the finalists settled in for one final night, with their sleep scores ultimately deciding who would take home the grand prize.

Following a close score comparison, Jiniya Chatterjee emerged as the winner of the Wakefit Sleep Internship Season 5, taking home the grand prize of INR 9.6 lakh along with a Wakefit-sponsored vacation. The finale brought the two-month competition to a close, celebrating the importance of quality sleep through a blend of healthy habits, creativity and entertainment.

The Wakefit Sleep Internship has grown into one of the brand’s most distinctive initiatives since its launch in 2019, with over 10 lakh applications received across its first four seasons and 65 interns earning stipends of ₹1 lakh each. By turning an everyday activity into an unconventional internship, Wakefit continues to spark conversations around the importance of quality sleep and the need to make rest a priority.

Chaitanya Ramalingegowda, Director and Co-founder, Wakefit, said, “At Wakefit, we have always believed that good sleep is fundamental to a healthy, balanced life. With the Sleep Internship, we wanted to take this conversation beyond the bedroom and make people think differently about something as simple, yet often overlooked, as getting a good night’s sleep. Over the seasons, it has been encouraging to see the initiative grow and bring people from across the country together around a shared appreciation for quality sleep. The response to Season 5, with nearly 2 lakh applications, shows just how much potential this initiative holds to make sleep a bigger part of everyday conversations. We hope to keep building on this momentum, making the conversation around sleep more relatable and reminding people that prioritising rest is one of the simplest steps towards a healthier life.”
