Where Penang Meets Lanka: A First-of-Its-Kind Culinary Pop-Up

Mumbai, February 2026: The Penang Table announces its first-ever pop-up with the launch of Gang of Penang, a new IP designed to spotlight bold culinary voices through collaborative experiences. Running from 16th to 28th February, the inaugural edition brings together Malaysian and Sri Lankan flavours at The Penang Table, Bandra, featuring Lisa’s Lanka by Lisa, formerly of the cult-favourite The Jaffna Jump. This landmark collaboration celebrates shared spice routes, coastal influences and deeply rooted food cultures, coming together for the first time under one roof.
Speaking about the collaboration, Lisa shares, “Sri Lankan food is deeply personal to me — it’s about memory, warmth and fearless flavour. Bringing Lisa’s Lanka to The Penang Table felt like a natural conversation between two cuisines that share so much history and soul.”

Kishore DF adds, “For our very first pop-up, we wanted something authentic and meaningful. This collaboration reflects what Gang of Penang stands for — honest flavours, cultural depth and strong culinary storytelling.”

The limited-edition menu is a flavour-forward journey that showcases the vibrancy of Sri Lankan cuisine through small plates and mains built on bold spice and technique. Highlights include Kadala Hummus made with black channa, sesame and shallot pepper masala served with crispy dosa shards, the comforting Avocado Pachadi, and Lisa’s signature Devilled preparations, a spicy, tangy street-style classic. The menu leans into intensity with dishes like Ceylon Black Pepper Fry, the vibrant Superrr! Shrimp Fry with coconut sambol, raw mango and lemongrass, and indulgent plates such as the Karuppu Mutton Hopper and Bone Marrow Varuval served with Ceylon parotta.
Anchoring the experience are soulful mains including the aromatic Jaffna Curry and a comforting Yellow Grain Mustard Curry with coconut milk and rampe, finishing on a sweet note with desserts like Spiced Palm Brûlée and The Island Malt.

Running for just 13 days, this pop-up invites Mumbai’s food lovers to experience a rare cross-cultural collaboration that goes beyond the plate — a celebration of flavour, history and shared culinary language. Adding to the festivities, 27th February will see The Penang Table host its first-ever Baila Night, starting 10:30 PM onwards, bringing together music, drinks and high-energy vibes to close the collaboration in style.
