One of the famous platforms that were earlier a public raised company, now owned by the multi-millionaire Elon Musk, has now challenged the Government of India in a legal battle for the free speech that was promised by Elon Musk earlier when he acquired Twitter and made it a Private Limited Co. The stake of the company is simple; it needs to make the platform free from any kind of restriction that would limit the freedom of speech and expression of any individual. They have also invoked the case of Shri Vidhya v. the state of Tamil Nadu for the same matter.

The matter of the case is being closely watched by various big MNCs of the U.S. including Alphabet, Meta Platforms, and Netflix. The case is crucial for all these technology and entertainment companies because it will decide the fate of censorship by the government on these platforms in the future projects in which they will be involved.

Twitter is one of the biggest social media platforms and has given voice to many people for taking their stand on this platform, also this platform supports any global discussion on issues such as climate, gender, and racism which acts as a device of the medium that conveys the message to the respective authorities. It is also known as the microblogging site wherein people put up their thoughts and opinions so that others can refer and exchange their views on certain topics or issues.

Twitter on Tuesday sued the Indian Government overlaying that it has blocked several accounts without any prior notice to the authorized platforms, in addition to this, they have also alleged that the government has deliberately deleted some of the tweets from the platform that concern some of the important decision of the ruling party. They have said that, to this, the Ministry of Electronics, and Information Technology “has dealt and demonstrated overuse of powers and have systematically dissembled the platform for their benefit.”

The battle escalates as the matter of the case was taken from the Karnataka High Court to the Delhi High Court wherein Twitter says that if justice does not serve, they will move to the Supreme Court of India for greeting justice for the users who are on the platform making that media a place to raise voice for rightfulness and truth. Twitter has challenged the legalities of the Constitution of India and invoked the violations done to the Fundamental Rights of the users of the platform.
