The oldest experience centre in India, Ather Energy’s Indiranagar location, has posted the greatest sales to date. In July 2021, the aforementioned store sold Rs 10 crore worth of electric scooters. According to the startup, this statistic places Ather as the largest EV retailer in India in terms of revenue. Furthermore, the company claims that demand for the Ather 450X and 450 Plus electric scooters is quite high in Bangalore, which is why it will establish a second showroom in the city in June 2021. Tarun Mehta, CEO and Co-Founder of Ather Energy, disclosed while responding to a comment on Twitter that the company’s second experience centre in Bengaluru had sold electric scooters worth considerably more than Rs 1 crore. Returning to the Indiranagar showroom’s success, while the actual number of electric scooters sold in July 2021 is unclear; Tarun estimates that it was close to 600 units. Because of the high demand, the business plans to open four experience centres in Bengaluru by early next year, according to Mehta.
The company’s flagship 450X electric scooter features a 2.9 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and an 8 horsepower electric motor. The 450X can sprint from a standstill to 40 kmph in only 3.3 seconds thanks to its hardware. In our tests, the scooter not only adhered to this but also provided an amazing range of 92 kilometres on a single charge. For comparison, the 450X’s real-world range in Eco mode is said to be 85 kilometres. IP 67 certified pressure die-cast aluminium battery pack is water-resistant.
