Bengaluru, 5th Oct, 2026: As the market gears up for the 2026 festive season, BigCity Promotions has unveiled its latest ‘Festive Purchase Decision Report’. Based on a survey of 1,000+ consumers across India, the report explores how consumers are planning to spend, what influences their choices, what kind of promotions can shape purchase behaviour, and how brands can build stronger engagement and post-purchase strategies.
Festive spending intent remains strong, with 91.6% of consumers expecting to spend the same or more this season. The bigger opportunity, however, lies in understanding how these purchase decisions are actually made — how much is planned in advance, how much happens closer to the point of purchase, and the role family and impulse can play in influencing final choices.
Promotions also emerge as a potential trigger for changing purchase behaviour. 40.3% of consumers say the right offer could encourage them to spend more or upgrade their purchase. The report goes deeper into the role of promotional formats, reward structures, perceived value and participation mechanics in influencing consumer action.
Consumer data is another area where the report uncovers an important shift. While 46.8% of consumers are comfortable sharing basic contact information, the report explores how this willingness changes as brands ask for richer information and what marketers need to consider when building stronger first-party consumer relationships.
The opportunity does not necessarily end at the transaction either. Around 92% of consumers are open to brands staying in touch after purchase, pointing to a significant post-purchase window. The report explores what consumers expect from this continued engagement, what makes communication relevant and how brands can turn a festive purchase into the beginning of a longer relationship.
Speaking on the launch of the report, Rahul Poral, Director – Marketing, BigCity Promotions, said, “Brands are no longer asking us just how to get consumers to participate. The bigger questions are: what will make them buy, spend more, come back, share data or stay engaged — and how do we make every promotional rupee work harder? From our experience, the strongest campaigns are built around a clear understanding of consumer behaviour and a defined action the brand wants to drive. Engagement then becomes the lever that moves that behaviour, not the objective by itself. This report brings together those questions with current consumer insights to help brands identify where promotions, rewards, data and post-purchase engagement can create greater impact and stronger ROI across the festive journey.”
Taken together, these findings connect purchase behaviour, promotional strategy, data exchange and post-purchase engagement, helping marketers understand where the strongest opportunities lie across the festive consumer journey.
