Digital India: NDMC, CSC connect hands to aid municipal services

The New Delhi Municipal Committee (NDMC) and the Common Service Centres (CSC) are joining hands to boost up the municipal services under the Digital India flagship campaign of the Government of India with an objective to transform India into a digitally empowered and knowledge economy. 

 A Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) was signed joining the North Delhi Municipal Corporation and CSC e-Governance Services India Limited at the Civic Centre on the last day and they pointed out that this helps to ease the finer services to the citizens of north Delhi. Its officials said that as it is pursuing to boost the municipal services provided to people, the north corporation has joined their hands with a technology company under the Digital India initiative.

While talking, the Common Service Centres (CSC) scheme is the sole of the mission mode projects under the Digital India Initiatives of the Union government. CSC has been established by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to supervise the execution of the CSC scheme. And the scheme gives a centralised combined structure for the delivery of services to citizens. North Delhi Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh pointed out the numerous online municipal services like property tax, e-mutation, health trade license, general trade license, factory license application offerings, park and community hall booking, renewal of tehbazari, registration of birth and death and hawking. And it would be accessible online through these CSCs.

Then he pointed out that about 15 municipal services would be accessible to the citizens by about 816 CSCs offered by the union government. And those citizens who do not have infrastructure entry can assist the multiple municipal services under CSC centres and he added now it would be easy for the citizens to acquire entry to municipal service through these centres.

The Municipal Commissioner Sanjay Goel pointed out that CSCs are the entry points for providing necessary public utility services, social welfare schemes, healthcare, financial services, education services and agriculture services and now civic services of NDMC would also be accessible to the citizens of North Delhi. Then it gives digital access and creates e-governance services accessible to the citizens at round. And he also pointed out that this MoU is a pace towards ‘Digital India’ and to give municipal services to all the citizens of north Delhi in the smartest & easiest way.
