Remember the Queen Concert in Wembley Stadium in 1984. Well most of us weren’t born during that time but the movie “Bohemian Rhapsody” sure made that immortal concert being etched into the mind of old and young alike.

Now nearly 4 decades after the concert and countless other memorable concerts by countless other musicians and artists the world has changed. Struggling under the grip of the Corona Virus the world has been pushed indoors and is increasingly made digital. It requires a life-changing event to propel mankind into a leap towards drastic change and that is being achieved by the Pandemic. The world has increasingly become digital and this new trend has all the chances to become the new norm long after this pandemic is over. So where do musicians come under all this digitalization? Well, that’s were Tiktok and YouTube come in. Here we are going to focus more on YouTube.

From Concerts to Online Release

The pandemic has pushed people inside and people have taken to the web. Now as more people are watching YouTube more and more artists and musicians are taking to the net for more reach and penetration amongst potential viewers, the digitalization of the music industry is becoming more accelerated. Now anyone with talent can start their own channel is YouTube and upload their songs which will be heard by an even larger crowd than a concert can ever achieve and all these for the fraction of the price. Even though being the center of all controversy, Tiktok is now being favored more among musicians to become viral or to reach more among the audience.

Analytics in the Music Industry

Now as Tiktok is becoming more of the preferred platform for releasing new songs by prospective musicians, YouTube is bringing up more features to help musicians know their audience and to make music according to their preference. With the launch of “Analytics for Artists” platform for musicians and artists, YouTube gives the tools to understand the followers. This includes which content is viewed more if the content is watched in the official channel or other channels, how the follower interacts with the content etc. This gives more power to the artist to plan their next release accordingly. But the main question is will it affect the creativity of the artist who performs new albums based on inspiration and not based on the trends seen in the online platform. The tool has to be increasingly helpful for the large more organized performers but it has not much use for small timers. However, analytics can help artists understand their followers and make more successful album for their audience.
