The entire world is focused on building employee capability and efficiency to meet the needs of the changing requirements in the world of work. Therefore it very necessary for the HR’s to acquire specific HR skills.

In a recent professional educational training program, conducted by BPP, an international education provider, a study was initiated to find out the necessary HR skills and whether the professionals are set for the future of work.

The world of work is changing constantly and the skills required in today’s workforce differ so much from those of the past. As we go on with technological advancements, professionals will also require completely new skills that are future-focused.

Data analytics and automation will lead the changes and will require an upskilled human resource. These changes ought to improve most industries and professionals, who do not have the right skills and are at risk of being left behind. The leaders and the organizations must organize training programs and opportunities for the employees on upskilling and developing their workforces.

From the research, BPP found out a detailed list of skills that are believed to be ‘most essential’ to meet upcoming demands of the world of work and they are analyzing whether they’ve invested enough to improve their capabilities. The crucial capabilities or prerequisites for the future human resource managers would be- People Analytics, Soft skills, Digital HR, Strategic workforce planning, Design thinking & stakeholder management.

In a time where automation and new technologies are rapidly changing the world of work, HR will play a subjective role in helping organizations, enterprises, and their people become future-oriented. HR professionals will need to upskill themselves with a new range of skills, comprising of people analytics, design thinking, digital HR, stakeholder management, and strategic workforce planning.

In the future, there will be a great demand for generalist type of HR professional and HR specialists which would transform the entire face of Human Resource Management into a more strategic form. There are rising opportunities and demand for HR with future-oriented skills in countries like Singapore, Hong Kong, and Malaysia.
