Galeries Lafayette Mumbai Curates the Season’s Most Coveted Occasion Wardrobe

For Autumn/Winter 2026, the luxury department store explores the evolving language of occasion dressing through fashion stories, destination-led edits, personalised services and beauty experiences, reflecting the diverse ways India celebrates today.

5th September 2026, Mumbai: Galeries Lafayette Mumbai marks the start of its Autumn/Winter season with the inaugural weekend of ‘A Grand Affair,’ on 5th and 6th September. Located on the second floor of the Kala Ghoda flagship, “A Grand Affair” is a month-long occasionwear pop-up bringing together elevated menswear and womenswear, accessories, beauty and Made-to-Measure. Designed for the many ways in which modern India dresses up, the edit offers customers the opportunity to discover and build complete looks for weddings, destination celebrations, festive gatherings and evenings that call for something extraordinary.

As the way India celebrates evolves, so does the language of occasion dressing. Today’s luxury consumer is looking beyond traditional occasionwear, seeking greater choice, individuality and access to global fashion within India. Galeries Lafayette Mumbai answers this evolving need through its exceptional breadth of global brands, rich curation, newness and expertise, creating a destination where discovery shapes the luxury experience.

Building on this perspective, Sathyajit Radhakrishnan, CEO, Galeries Lafayette India & International Mono Brands, at ABFRL, says, “Discovery has always been central to the Galeries Lafayette proposition, bringing together over 250 brands with 70% making their India debut through the store. This Autumn/Winter, we strengthen this further with Carolina Herrera, Roberto Cavalli, Giuseppe Zanotti, The Attico, K-Way and Rains, all exclusive to Galeries Lafayette India, alongside Rick Owens making its India debut with us. These globally sought-after brands add further depth to the store’s wider mix of international brands, contemporary labels and Indian designers, adding new dimensions to our portfolio giving consumers greater choice across different styles, sensibilities and occasions.”

A standout moment of the season is our collaboration with renowned Indian couturier & pioneering fashion icon Tarun Tahiliani, whose work has been instrumental in shaping the language of contemporary Indian occasionwear. His approach brings together craftsmanship, drape and structure in a way that feels deeply rooted in heritage while remaining uniquely contemporary.

The Occasion Wardrobe, Through Galeries Lafayette Mumbai

Galeries Lafayette Mumbai interprets occasion dressing through three immersive fashion stories, each with a different visual identity and way of dressing, reflecting the many ways we celebrate today.

‘A Royal Affair’ explores the return of more elevated evening dressing, reflecting a growing appetite for eveningwear that feels more expressive than conventionally formal. A/W 2026 embraces this sensibility through classic evening silhouettes, lustrous fabrics, rich textures, and statement proportions with floor-length gowns, sculpted cocktail dresses, draped forms, and intricate embellishments that shape the mood. Elie Saab, Carolina Herrera, Self-Portrait, Roberto Cavalli and Alexander McQueen each bring a distinct perspective to the season’s evening wardrobe. For men, ‘Over the White Shirt’ takes one of menswear’s most enduring foundations, using the white shirt as a canvas for the art of layering. The edit brings together Alexander McQueen, Gabriela Hearst, Auralee, Dries Van Noten, Dunhill, Rick Owens, Etro, Maison Margiela and Ralph Lauren Purple Label, translating classic foundations into a more individual language for cocktails, soirées and after-parties.

In Full Bloom’ explores a more playful and expressive energy, making it particularly suited to pre-wedding festivities, bachelor and bachelorette celebrations. Inspired by the beauty of nature, the theme explores botanical prints, animal motifs and earthy elegance through a fresh, contemporary lens, with colour palettes that move between soft and vivid tones. As florals move beyond their traditional spring-summer association, taking on richer, deeper and more intricate interpretations, the edit lends itself naturally to the months ahead. For women, Alemais, La DoubleJ, Gabriela Hearst, Farm Rio and Simkhai bring the mood to life through flowing dresses and expressive prints, while Bode, Casablanca and JW Anderson interpret it through patterned shirts and relaxed silhouettes for men.

‘The Destination Edit’ brings together four destinations that continue to hold strong appeal for today’s bride and groom. From sun-soaked coastlines to grand palaces and lakeside soirées, the edit brings together looks shaped by the character, climate and aesthetic of each place. Greece comes through in crisp whites, shades of blue, airy linens and resort silhouettes; Rajasthan in rich prints, royal colours and artisanal embroidery; Lake Como in elegant neutrals, florals and sophisticated eveningwear; and the Maldives in tropical prints, breezy co-ordinates and chic resortwear. Pucci, Jacquemus, Missoni, Cult Gaia, Camilla, Dries Van Noten, Bode and Casablanca feature across the four edits, bringing a distinct fashion point of view to each destination.

Made-to-Measure, Distinctly You by Design

Galeries Lafayette Mumbai also introduces its first Made-to-Measure offering, bringing master tailors from Lardini, van Laack, Jacob Cohën and 100 Hands to India. As this level of craftsmanship is preserved by a rare group of master tailors worldwide, bringing a select few for this exclusive in-store experience offers a first-hand encounter with true heritage.

Across the three-day experience, customers experience the nuances of M-T-M tailoring, from fabric selection and proportion to construction and precision fitting. Led with a distinct sartorial approach, the service places the wearer at the centre of the process, bringing a highly personal dimension to menswear.

Beauty, Beyond the Look

The journey extends beyond fashion with a beauty line-up spanning make-up, fragrance and skincare. As part of the ‘A Grand Affair’ pop-up, Galeries Lafayette Mumbai brings together personalised beauty services across La Prairie, SK-II, Guerlain and Dior, alongside fragrance discovery from Guerlain, Amouage, Armani and Creed, offering customers a considered approach to completing the look, from skin to scent.
