As a step to boost the Artificial Intelligence (AI) sector in India, and realizing the opportunities in this field, the Government of India has launched the National Artificial Intelligence Portal recently. The portal will be jointly run by the National e-Governance Division of the Ministry of Electronics and IT along with the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) from the IT industry. The Government of India has identified nine priority areas where AI could be found extremely useful such as in education, infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare, smart cities, transportation, and eventually created a portal for AI nationally. The portal is to act as a comprehensive platform for all the advancements in Artificial Intelligence in India. The recently developed portal will provide all information regarding the AI ecosystem including the AI startups, companies, and other investment details. This will function as a platform to access AI resources and news.
Being named as “ai.gov.in”, the domain has everything related to the AI from news to recent articles to investments to research works to reports. It is also expected to provide the learning required and new job roles related to AI.
The most discussed section in the portal is the skills and jobs section that aids individuals especially professionals to learn and search jobs in the field of AI. This portal currently runs AI courses that are either free or paid for courses like Data Visualization, Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, AI Foundation, etc. It is expected to upskill the workforce thereby enhancing the competencies of the professionals. The courses are being provided by the top curators and educational institutions like the IIT Bombay as well as by third-party content providers like SkillUp and edX.
According to Nasscom, this AI portal will serve as a connection between entrepreneurs, students, experts in the field of AI as well as the government for sharing and sourcing of the ideas in this field. The portal is expected to serve as a knowledge center for all those who are interested in this area. The AI portal is now focussed on highlighting the achievements of India in the arena of AI.
