Like any other search engine, Google also has to work hard to keep its search results spam-free. The annual webspam report that Google published in the week suggests that more than 99% of Google’s search results become spam-free only when the corporates webspam team discovers around 25 billion spam pages every day, with the assistance of automated Artificial Intelligence(AI) based systems.

Although the corporate did not share the precise methods it uses for spam fighting because “that would weaken the protections and ultimately make the search much less useful”, but it shared details about spam behaviour which is detected systematically.

Google encounters the spam pages daily and filters them out of its search results index. The big figures show the extent of persistence that the spammers show and great efforts that Google must show to keep its search results as much spam-free as possible.

The annual webspam report encloses the method through which the corporate stayed ahead of these spammers within the year 2019. Some of the main points which the report suggests is that the search engine giant has employed some advanced machine learning systems and time-tested manual enforcement capabilities to identify and stop spammed results to appear in the search index for the users.

With its advanced technologies, Google managed to require action on 82% of the 230,000 reports that it received and processed regarding spam results.

There is an eternal threat of link spams that keeps the search engines on the sides, and Google also goes through the same problem. But currently, Google is reportedly getting better at identifying them and taking care of them.

The company said during a statement that, “A low-quality page might include the proper words and phrases that match what you searched for, so our language systems wouldn’t be able to detect unhelpful pages from content alone. “If you’ve ever gone into your spam folder in Gmail, that’s similar to what search results would be like without our spam detection capabilities,” it added. Google said it has designed systems to prioritize the foremost relevant and reliable sites at the highest. And also the corporate admitted that the fight with the spam may be a never-ending battle.
