Lamborghini will be getting electrified by 2024: 1st electric Lambo coming

Lamborghini has taken a new big step this decade and going to acquire electrified vehicles. All the things will happen from Sant’Agata from 2024. But, the entire battery-electric Lamborghini will be available later this decade.

As the President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, Stephan Winkelmann, said in her statement, Lamborghini has decided to acquire electric powertrains, presented the brand’s future roadmap.

Apart from the “Direzione Cor Tauri”(Towards Cor Tauri) plan, The goal of Lamborghini to “decarbonisation of future Lamborghini models and the Sant’ Agata Bolognese site.”

Winkelmann also said all Lamborghini that will leave the Sant’ Agata facility will become fully electrified (hybridized). Furthermore, in the second phase of this decade(2025-2029) a new battery-electric Lamborghini will break cover.

The year 2020 was a complete year for Lamborghini. Winkelmann says a keen rise in growth and popularity is particularly down its first SUV, the Lamborghini Urus. The “Cornerstone” Urus helps automaker to add two other lines in its portfolio- Huracan and Aventador super sports cars.

The Lamborghini Sian is the maiden electrified Lambo with supercapacitors, a new component that uses some bits of the Aventador covered and manufactured in limited numbers only. All the electric Lamborghini will become the brand’s fourth model line which we will see later in this decade.

The initial hybrid series production Lamborghini will be launched in 2023 before the rest range will be electrified by 2024. The Lamborghini team has made a plan to achieve an internal target for this phase is to reduce product CO2 emissions by 50% by soon 2025. Lamborghini will invest 1.5+ billion euros in the next four years to implement their project.

Winkelmann did not comment directly if and when the brand will go fully electrified. But according to the sources, it wouldn’t be long before Lamborghini must drag the plug on its internal combustion engines. He also said it is expected that Lamborghini will continue to grasp this position for as long as possible. But, he said this year Lamborghini will launch two more, V12 variants, which are expected to be limited-run spin-offs based on the soon-to-be-replaced Aventador hypercar.
