Mumbai, 2026: Leica Store Mumbai brought together a vibrant creative community for an intimate edition of Leica Connect at Soho House Mumbai, an evening dedicated to storytelling, perspective, and the art of seeing.
The session featured acclaimed filmmaker Kabir Khan, whose conversation unfolded as an insightful and deeply engaging exchange. Participants from across creative fields, including filmmakers, cinematographers (DOPs), professional photographers, artists, and enthusiasts came together, each reflecting a strong and genuine interest in Kabir’s journey and approach to visual storytelling.
A central theme that resonated through the evening was Kabir’s belief in the power of still imagery. He shared how capturing a single frame often becomes the starting point to understand composition, framing, and structure—before translating it into motion. Photography, as he explained, sharpens the ability to pre-visualise and build narratives with clarity and intent.
The audience engaged with thoughtful curiosity seeking to understand how his journey with photography evolved alongside filmmaking, and how still images continue to inform a cinematographer’s perspective. Kabir spoke about his extensive travels, particularly during film shoots, and how encounters with photographers across regions have influenced his visual sensibilities.
He also reflected on his personal relationship with Leica sharing how the camera remains a constant companion beyond professional work. Whether during recce, while travelling, or in quiet, unstructured moments, it allows him to capture candid perspectives driven purely by instinct and passion.
The evening also saw the presence of Leica Ambassador Ranveer Brar, further enriching the spirit of creative dialogue and exchange.
The event was thoughtfully conceptualised and brought to life under the leadership of Leica India’s Managing Director Manish Nichani, along with the marketing team including Shruti Goyal and Lavanya Nichani, who played a key role in curating and weaving together the experience at Soho House Mumbai. Participation was opened through social media, with an overwhelming response however, the evening was intentionally kept intimate, with only 30 selected attendees forming part of the experience. The curated group represented a wide spectrum of the creative community, all united by their love for photography.
True to the Leica Connect spirit, the interaction extended well beyond the session. Conversations continued organically as attendees connected, exchanged ideas, and reflected on shared perspectives.
The evening concluded with a relaxed coffee and dining experience, allowing guests to further engage and build meaningful connections within the Leica community.
Leica India extends its gratitude to all participants who joined and contributed to making the evening memorable. Through Leica Connect, Leica Store Mumbai continues to foster a space for dialogue, inspiration, and a deeper engagement with the art of seeing.
