June 23, 2014: Economic Times study reveals this surprising fact, no Maruti model features in top 10 fuel efficient cars in India. Honda, Hyundai, Toyota and Tata models have taken pole position. The top two positions have gone to Honda models – City and Amaze diesel variation. Both these models deliver more than 25 Km per liter.

All the common Tata models like Nano, Indica and Indigo have kept their position intact in this list. The Toyota models of Etios and Liva have their mileage more than 24 KMPL. Maruti Swift DZire is their most fuel efficient car and it is only having 19th position in the list compiled by Economic Times. Honda’s latest diesel technology ‘Earth dreams’ has led to its amazing improvement in mileage of the top end models. Their latest City model and Amaze have been top sellers too this year. The company is also launching a 7 seater MPV this year, Mobilio based on their successful Brio platform.

Maruti on the other hand have been working on improving the fuel efficiency of their Alto and Dzire models, though they have been able to increase their mileage, they are still a distance away from Honda, Tata, Hyundai and Toyota models when it comes to fuel efficiency.
