OpenText Announces Changes to its Executive Leadership Team

The Executive Leadership Team of OpenText has announced major strategic appointments and revisions. OpenText CEO and CTO Mark J. Barrenechea expressed his enthusiasm for the company’s cloud-based growth strategy and its plans to sustain profitable growth in the future.

He went on to say that they have the best leadership team in the company’s history and that they will continue to implement and execute their strategic plan. He was overjoyed to share the news of the important hires.

  • Sandy Ono has been designated Chief Marketing Officer of the company. Ms. Ono comes to OpenText from Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), where she most recently served as VP, Growth Marketing, where she assisted in driving digital transformation, shaping GTM strategy, and implementing digital analytics activities to help customers acquire and retain customers.

Prior to joining HPE, Ms. Ono worked for Deloitte and the Walt Disney Company in a variety of high-impact strategy consulting and business development roles. Sandy Sandy is an MBA from the Wharton School of Business.

  • Michael Acedo has been elevated to the position of Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary. Mr. Acedo joined OpenText in 2014 after practicing corporate and securities law at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, LLP, with a focus on international capital markets and mergers and acquisitions.

Michael has been acknowledged as a notable practitioner in business legal journals, including being named a Rising Star, Leading Lawyer Under 40 by Lexpert. He was most recently Vice President, General Counsel – Corp. & Corporate Secretary at OpenText.

  • Doug Parker has been promoted to Corporate Development Executive Vice President. Mr. Parker has over a decade of experience with OpenText in a variety of roles, as well as serving as President and CEO of Quarterhill Inc., a company focused on the acquisition, management, and growth of technology companies.
  • Gordon A. Davies, Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer, and Corporate Development, has announced his retirement, which will take effect in September 2022. Mr. Davies will serve as Special Advisor to the Chief Executive Officer until that time comes.

The changes and appointments are effective immediately, and each will report to the CEO.
