School closed from January 10 in Pondicherry amid Omicron Surge

Since our states are again witnessing the spike of the covid third wave, the omicron surges the government, and the states have decided to set up certain guidelines and strictly follow the protocols initiated by the government to lower the cases in the states.

The states including Delhi, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh have set up their guidelines and decided to conduct online classes for school students except for 10th and 12th Std classes and nursing and medical colleges. 

Ponidchery has also come up with the same guideline to prevent the spread of the virus and lower the cases in the state as it is primarily oriented towards children. Hence the government decided to shut down the schools for two weeks. 

The classes from 1 to 9 are suspended from January 10th, 2022 for two weeks amid the rising of Covid cases in the state. 10th and 12th std classes have to report to school if there are any essential services needed and 11th std students must also report for the exams.

The government has initiated the same rule for colleges except for medical and nursing colleges. The home and education minister announced the order and added that until further notification comes it will remain closed. 

The omicron surge is mainly getting affected by the children and the government has started the vaccination facility for the children from the first week of January. Almost 6 lakhs of children got registered on the first day itself.

The government also said that they will reopen the schools only after most of the children cover taking at least the first dose of the vaccination, as it is the only way to prevent the spread of the virus from being affected.

According to the latest reports, Pondicherry the number of covid cases in the state hasn’t lowered below 444 in the last 24 hours. Since the state is starting to get alarmed with the situation the government decided to conduct online classes for the children.

The schools were reopened last year December considering the situation but soon the children again needed to return to their houses because of the third wave of covid.

The government has also asked the public to strictly follow the Covid protocols such as wearing masks, frequently sanitizing, and social distancing.

The government has also initiated the surveillance of police in the state to check this and ensure fines in the cases of people who don’t obey the government rules. 

The health minister of the state has requested the public to not panic with the regular symptoms and ensured vaccination is the best prevention.

The number of cases admitted in the hospital is very low in number hence making sure that the spread is not serious if taken proper measures. 

The government has asked the people to test and report in the hospital if the symptoms are high and go into quarantine. Mainly the government initiated the safety of the children.
