SkinQ harnesses the Power of Clinical Testing to Transform Quality and Effectiveness of Skincare Products

SkinQ validates its products through extensive clinical testing to ensure greater safety and effectiveness

Bangalore, 4 September, 2023: SkinQ, India’s first Made Safe Certified, Dermatologist formulated, multi-active solutions brand for people with Skin of Colour, is redefining the quality parameters of skin care products in India through its extensive reliance on clinical trials. This approach enables SkinQ to eliminate the shortcomings of the conventional user-trials that are easier to conduct, but there is scope for data to be influenced.

SkinQ’s clinical trials through certified bodies such as Mascot Spincontrol, and NovoBliss Research as well as medical professionals, have validated the effectiveness of all four major products from the brand. The trials included tests using Chromometer, Mexameter, and Diffused Light Image Scanning.

The Sun Protect Ultra Light Gel reduced tanning by 15.5%, and made skin smoother by 13.7% in 28 days. It also stopped pigmentation in 80% of users within two weeks, and it was proven to be water resistant with no residue or effects like oily/greasy skin. In 3 uses of 15 minutes each, the SkinQ Acne Control Mask led to 55% decrease in Acne size, and 72.3% reduction in Sebum (oil) in all users. It also led to 17.9% reduction of acne breakouts in 78% users apart from reduction of blackheads, and whiteheads and increase in skin brightness. All users found the mask to be gentle on the skin. The Glow Bright Mask reduced surface tanning by 97%, and skin roughness by 21% in all users alongside increasing skin brightness by 18% in 15 minutes of use. All users found the mask to be gentle on the skin. With 28 days of use, the SkinQ Brightening Serum led to 35% increase in skin brightening in 97% users, 16% increase in skin smoothness among 79% users, and 5.3% reduction of Melanin in all users. It also made the skin appear pinker and softer. Further, there were no burning/stinging/irritation feelings on skin post use, and the products had quick absorption and even spread.

Speaking about this, Meera Iyer, CEO & Co-Founder, SkinQ, said “In the standard user-trials approach, consumers are given raw products in non-labelled packaging. There could be products in various price categories such as mass, mid-priced and premium. In such a scenario, users often tend to change their feedback on a product once they are told about the brand name, price etc. Average reviews for a premium product get converted into highly appreciative, and consumers who had preferred a low-priced product tend to distance themselves from their early choice. Essentially, in the user-trial approach, in most cases, it is not the product quality that gets benchmarked, but the brand reputation and premium tags. I felt that it was almost hoodwinking the customers, and decided to ensure that SkinQ products undergo rigorous testing to ensure they deliver the outcomes that we promise our buyers”.

Adding further, Dr Chytra, Founder & Chief Innovator, SkinQ, said, “There is a significant lack of information among consumers about what constitutes validated trials. The understanding is that users provide feedback as per a standardized questionnaire on the quality and effectiveness of the products. Despite being the popular approach, this results in unscientific, and unverifiable outcomes. On the other hand, the clinical trials-based approach adopted by SkinQ leverages biomarkers to identify and demonstrate actual product impact.”

SkinQ adopts a science-based, cost-effective process that can be substantiated through FDA/FTC certifications and published on clinicaltrials.gov for anytime verification by the consumers. It is this assurance of quality and positive impact that distinguishes SkinQ from other brands that can only make marketing claims related to a product’s benefits based on user-trials, but not back those up scientifically.
