MultiVersus, an all-new free-to-play, platform fighter videogame was announced by Warner Bros. Games, introducing a team-based 2 vs 2 format mingled with an ever-expanding cast of characters from different universes.

The game, developed by Player First Games is scheduled for worldwide release in 2022 on PS5TM and PS4TM consoles, Xbox One consoles, and PC with content-filled sessions, server-based rollback netcode, and full cross-play support. Pre-registration for upcoming playtests is now possible at the website MultiVersus.com.

The game will exhibit a variety of fan-favorite heroes and personalities, either teaming up or competing against each other in epic battles. This includes characters from the DC Super Heroes and DC Super-Villains like Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Harley Quinn.

Also included are Bugs Bunny from Looney Tunes, Arya Stark from Game of Thrones, Tom and Jerry from Tom and Jerry, Steven Universe, and Garnet from Steven Universe, an original creature named Reindog, and many more.

The online 2 vs 2 matches give a strong emphasis on cooperative gameplay. Every fighter has their set of unique combat mechanics that distinguish this game from others for their refreshing take on 2 vs 2 gameplay.

Players are provided with customizable movesets that combine fluidly with other characters as they battle for dominance.

Such dynamic combinations are seen, where Wonder Woman and her Lasso of Truth attack is coupled with Shaggy and his sandwich projectile. Equally unexpected is when Arya Stark’s face-swapping ability is combined with Superman’s heat vision.

All these thrilling multiplayer battles will be set against some amazing backdrops of various environments from fictional worlds like Jake and Finn’s Tree Fort, Batman’s Batcave, and many more. 1 vs. 1 battles and 4-player free-for-all mode where only one fighter can come out on top are also included in the game.

According to the president of Warner Bros. Games, David Haddad, the MultiVersus aims to create a distinct competitive game that can combine a deep roster of famous WarnerMedia franchises for fans around the globe to enjoy.

Lending their voices to the game is an all-star cast of talent, including Kevin Conroy as Batman, George Newbern as Superman, Abby Trott as Wonder Woman, Tara Strong as Harley Quinn, John DiMaggio as Jake the Dog, Daniel DiVenere as Steven Universe, Matthew Lillard as Shaggy, Eric Bauza as Bugs Bunny and Tom and Jerry, Maisie Williams as Arya Stark, Jeremy Shada as Finn the Human, Estelle as Garnet and Andrew Frankel as Reindog.
