Pee Safe Marks Menstrual Hygiene Day with #PlayInComfort Initiative Featuring Smriti Mandhana

On the occasion of Menstrual Hygiene Day, Pee Safe is drawing attention to a critical but often overlooked impact on young girls across India, with nearly 75% of girls gradually dropping out of sports and physical activities because of periods, menstrual discomfort, lack of access to proper menstrual hygiene solutions, and limited awareness around menstrual health. With its #PlayInComfort initiative in collaboration with Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana, the brand wants young female athletes to keep going in sports with confidence without hesitation during menstruation.

For so many young girls, adolescence turns into a point of change where involvement in sports and physical activities steadily goes down. And while those reasons are rarely spoken about openly, menstruation itself, insufficient awareness around menstrual hygiene, fear of leakage, that sort of discomfort during movement, and the social stigma still end up playing a big part in shrinking girls’ confidence and participation on the field.

With #PlayInComfort, Pee Safe is trying to make the conversations around periods in sports feel normal and to reinforce the idea that menstruation should never become a reason for girls to pause their goals, back away from chances, or stop playing the sports they enjoy.

As part of this initiative, Smriti Mandhana has joined hands with Pee Safe to help the next generation of female athletes to look at periods with confidence, not fear or embarrassment. She is one of India’s most celebrated sportspersons, and that spotlight really matters because it brings more visibility to menstrual awareness and the need for a more supportive ecosystem for girls in sports.

The effort also points to a bigger, and still growing, need for menstrual hygiene solutions that are easy to access, comfortable, and dependable so girls can keep showing up in sports in a more confident and comfortable way, even during their periods.

On the initiative, Vikas Bagaria, founder of Pee Safe, said, “Many young girls slowly start drifting away from sports once they begin menstruating, not because they lack talent or ambition, but because periods are still surrounded by silence, discomfort, and weak awareness. With #PlayInComfort, we want to encourage girls to keep chasing the sports they love with confidence as well as comfort. In addition, over the years, Pee Safe has conducted more than 370 dedicated awareness and hygiene sessions across 90+ cities in India as part of our ongoing commitment to make conversations around menstrual health more reachable, better informed, and free from stigma.”

By combining conversations that drive awareness with efforts that focus on ease and self-assurance, Pee Safe continues to push for a time when menstrual health is spoken openly, and no girl has to step back from sports just because of her periods.
