Indian Idol continues to be something that several people dream of becoming. It has aired on Sony Entertainment Television since 2004. It’s an exquisite platform for those who want to showcase their singing skills. Like several other TV reality shows, there’s also an audition for it.

This year it was the 12th season of Indian Idol. ‘Indian Idol Season 12’ was given a grand farewell with 12 hours of non – stop entertainment composing over 40 acts and a fitting celebration of music with over 200 songs.

The season culminated in the foremost effective Finale Ever episode, where absolutely the best 6 finalists – Pawandeep Rajan, Arunita Kanjilal, Mohd Danish, Sayli Kamble, Nihal Tauro, Shanmukh Priya – gave an excellent performance and compete towards winning the coveted trophy of ‘Indian Idol Season 12’. While many reality and talent hunt shows spring up grand ideas for season finales, a season finale running into 12 hours has never been seen before on Indian television. Ashish Golwalkar, Content Head, Digital Business and SET, Sony Pictures Networks India, explained that it was all about breaking the clutter and creating an interruption. “It was an outsized task before people. The teams are working day in and outing which we were looking forward to wrapping up this season amidst great splendor and fanfare.”

The talent hunt show has been completed for 12 years now. Speaking about the USP of the show that makes ‘Indian Idol’ so popular; Golwalkar confirmed that ‘Indian Idol’ has been an especially popular show and a notably successful format for Sony. Selecting the right talent from different states of India has played a large role in the success of ‘Indian Idol’.

When asked how ‘Indian Idol’ always gets the foremost effective talent, Golwalkar replied, “Our focus has always been singing and incredible vocal performance. Though this year auditions were conducted digitally, we saw massive participation”.

The surge in digital due to COVID has changed the way auditions are now done. “It was during the pandemic, the world learned how to adapt to difficult and different situations. There was much learning from ‘Indian Idol, which allowed the channel to improvise it for other shows” added Golwalkar.”
