Despite the number of covid cases rising, the Mysore government has decided to suspend the offline classes which were started again due to the fall of covid, recently.

The government decided to suspend the offline classes from January 12, 2022, and enable online classes for the students taking their safety in concern. Schools across the city and taluk come under this application as mentioned by DC.

The classes from Kindergarten to 10th std are suspended from today and unless further notification comes to sit will remain the same. 11th and 12th std students need to report to the school according to the essential services.

The colleges except the nursing and medical colleges can keep online classes according to the final decision taken by the university and college board. The decision was declared by Mysuru City Deputy Commissioner to the media.

The decision was taken because the number of covid cases which is increasing in the Karnataka state is crossing the boards per day and the last count was breached to 500 mark by yesterday.

Closing of the schools will not only reduce the number of covid cases but also ensure safety on children as this spike of the covid wave, the omicron surge is mainly getting affected by the children.

The Indian government has already made a decision to start the vaccination for the children age group between 15-18 from January first week of this year looking in hand their safety.

As per the reports children are likely to get affected by this covid surge and the government has taken the steps to instill the first dose among the children and further look into the reopening of the schools.

The government has decided to keep the maximum number of vaccination drives for children in all the places they can and thus fasten the step of covering the first dose for children in the state.

The Deputy Commissioner of Mysore has stated that other districts can continue to keep the offline classes following the covid protocols initiated by the government.

He also added that they will reopen schools only after a majority of the children get vaccinated with the first dose.

According to the last reports, the city has 562 covid cases with a test positivity rate of 9.95% in the last 24 hours.

The other states including Delhi, Bangalore, Maharashtra hs also closed down the schools ensuring the safety and the spread amid this omicron surge.

The government has revised the rules and regulations to be followed by the public in order to control the covid spike by wearing masks, frequently sanitizing, and social distancing.
